I thought I'd share it... I think if this helps other's to gain perspective on their own blackhead situation then I am glad.

Its not pleasant. Have tried retin a, BHA and Mandelic Acid, Exfoliation methods.

Look what happened, I guess my skin is red and crinkly, the blackheads... vile.

This is how my nose looked prior to Accutane. I'm on month 6 of Tane now and those blackhead buggers cleared out month two on Tane. So cool. Anyway, I have normal pores and smooth skin, but my nose looks like a strawberry. Prior to Tane, I would get a mild facial each month (very gentle and wonderful facialist) and after each facial my face and nose looked great. However, a week after the facial the blackheads returned on my nose. From what I gather here, to keep the pores clear you have to use some AHA/BHA to unplug them. Like Paula's Choice BHA lotion or gel, mild salicylic or lactic acid cleanser, etc. Do you have a Derm. or a Day Spa near you to book a consult for a facial? My husband gets facials too - it helps clear his blackheads also.

Good luck. I'm sure you will get some advice on this.

Either get on accutane or don't mess with them at all is my advice..

Honestly though, blackheads on the nose doesn't bother me at all even though I don't have any thanks to accutane, but because everyone has them and its sooo not noticable tongue.gif

You have a lot of inflamed pores and your skin just looks irritated which also makes it more shiny.

It's really hard to get rid of blackheads if your pores are inflamed or your skin is too irritated.

Just lay of the treatments for 2 weeks or so. Wash only once a day. Be gentle for your skin and allow it to heal. Don't use to many products.

If you've got any glycolic acid handy, spread some on your nose and leave it for a minute or two. Don't wash it off and apply a pore strip and leave it for 15-20 minutes or however long it says. When you take it off you might be surprised.

That's alot of blackheads and it is time for you to get them out. Try using your finger nail to scrub them off or use a blackheads steel extractor to release them.

wouldnt recommend doing that or you could get bad scarring.

oh and for me, pore strips dont really work and end up irritating pores and giving me spots. eg biore.

Yeah biore pack strip doesn't work on me as well. You should try Pond's strips as it remove blackheads really well. Too bad singapore doesn't carry this brand anymore. But america still do.

Thanks for sharing.

acneconqueror, you know i've also... come to the realization of the huge dilemma...

either let your pores clog up and do nothing about them.. and maybe hope that someday it'll just go away by itself.

or do something like clear them and have them leave pore craters on your skin as you age.

external methods may just do more damage than help..

and internal methods.. well i dont know about them.. but if it works, it'll work well and provide some actual results.

i tried the steam your ace and then pore strip thing for a few months... they got a lot of stuff ot, but pores would turn black in half an hour!

i think the pore strips and the acids have made my nose skin look bad... i think i will lay off everything for a while...

but prior to this all i ever did was wash with water and it was just as bad... I think nothing will work, and i won't get accutane for my skin anymore, i wish i hd got it when i hadsevere acne, but i was refused.

its really depressing me, because they are really noticeable

whoa.

i have problem skin but i don't have blackheads like yours. Your's are small and black. Mine are underneath the skin, and kinda yellowish.

I think exfoliating, steaming, and gentle extraction with a pore extractor can take care of those. also, have you tried kaolin clay masks? they'll dry up the blackhead, making them smaller, and possibly fall out of the pores.

i really think avage works well for bringing blackhead to the surface. i get it from my derm and its a bit pricey but well worth it! and it smooths scarring and prevents wrinkles!

My nose is almost like that picture .. just that it is usually much redder and irritated. I guess my blackheads also seem to me that it is much more prominent.

Umm.. I do have blackheads, and everyone has hair on their nose plus pretty much everywhere else. Hair follicles are part of pores. Maybe it's your computer screen?

The blackheads on your nose look really bad, no wonder you need to squeeze them off with your finger that often till your nose wrinkly. But if you really need to squeeze by using finger then I will suggest you to do that during bathing with water all over your face rather than on dry face. It minimize the chances of getting wrinkles on your nose this way.

You should try Jan Marini's Benzoyl Peroxide, it really works for those blackheads. Don't use those pore strips, they might seem like a good solution but they're a temporary fix and eventually will damage your skin eventually. Use Jan Marini's BP twice a day and the blackheads will fade, but you have to use it everyday. BP 2.5% is too mild and 10% is way too strong, but I found that 5% works perfectly for me.
