I'd like to hear from people who have cystic acne, have taken accutane, and who are also taking anti-depressants. There is very little research and information about problems people might have if they take anti-depressants and accutane. anyone try this? any issues? mood changes? thanks

Arent you only like a month into your course McMaster? I think it takes substantitally longer thaan that to start noticeing the severe and rare side effects like depression. I'm sure youll be alright tohough considering your young and into sports.
As far as anti-depressants go, I was prescribeed them(lexapro) after my first course, but I couldn't stick with it and neve felt its effects. I don't think its a bad idea however, especially if its not one of the types that supposedly can cause depression and suicideal ideation in theire ownn right.

I think ppl who are on accutane and get depressed and suicidal are ppl who are generally weak minded, ya know the type of ppl that get bad acne and think its the end of the world and turn into hermits..accutane just intensifies those already present feelings, not causes them.Ive never been on accutane, even though i had some really bad cystic acne in highschool but if i were to get on it sometime i sure i wouldnt get depressed.

Axl, you are an idiot. Depression is not about being "weak-minded". It's a disease, just like alcoholism or acne is a disease (or condition). Some people are more susceptible to depression, but it's not because of some character flaw or weak moral fibre. People who suffer from depression are not at "fault". That's like saying that someone who has lupus or epilepsy is at fault for their disease. People like you are the reason that depression carries such social stigma and why people are reluctant to get help for fear of being judged.

I've been on both, two times. (2 courses accutane, bothtimes on ADS) and I'm fine.
Are you on ADs now? Or thinking about it.
Axl -you're not coming from a position of knowledge and can't judge someone else on depression. And quoting form a TV show? Lame.
