I started Dans regimen like a month ago and right away my chin started to flare up. I have had these big cysts/papules the size of a dime. It took all i had to go to class and let alone go to work (I work at best buy). I told myself that it will get better one at a time and to wait 3 months before trying something.
As im typing this i have 5 papules/cysts flaring up and suprise surprise, i work tomorrow. I have read about Chin acne and that it sometimes caused by hormones. As i read through more and more about, i realize that maybe my acne is caused by homones because the rest of my face is clear. Then i read that it only happens to female, but i am a male.
"IF" my acne is caused by hormones, what can i do about it? I refuse to take accutane because i dont think my parents should have to pay hundreds just so i can be happy.

@Jordan - It's not covered, just checked
Well i just got 2 new cystic acne, so that makes 7...7 pea sized pimples on my chin. What am i doing wrong? I follow DK regimen from point 1 to point 2. I've been on it for almost 2 months and the cystic/papules keep coming. Is this normal? Please someone tell me that it will get better. I have not left my dorm room on the weekends to go out because of this
I really need some help, i try so hard to not think about it but its just there!!!

I also get acne only around my chin, mouth area and my doctor said it was hormonal acne. He couldn't prescribe me a hormone controlling edicine because im only 15 and he said I should try clearing it from the skin first and gave me a tretinoin topical.
but for sure go see your doctor

tetrocycline
amoxcyclin
doxycline (i think thats what its called)
with 10%BP and ive tried retin-a also. None of them have completely gotten rid of my acne. I've decided to go the cheaper way and try DK's regimen. I told myself id give it 3 - 4 months but my chin is really getting bad. I've added fiber capsules to my diet..i hope this will work.
and besides i know what the dermatologist is going to say anyways
"No, you dont need cortisone"
"You're acne isnt severe"
"Here ill prescribe you a new oral medicine, but stick with the BP and retina"
If my acne really is hormonal...what can i do about it?

Morning:
Shower - apply cetaphil
wait 15 mins - apply 2.5 neutrogena BP
wait 20mins - apply cetaphil moisturizer
Throughout the day:
drink plenty of water
Workout - get rid of stress
drink protein shake - (I halfed the amount i usually take to see what would happen) Cysts still.
Started taking fiber capsules
*Trying to eat a lot of fish*
Night:
Wash face - apply cetaphil
wait 15mins - apply 2.5 BP
wait 20mins - apply cetaphil moisturizer
Pray that my chin acne will be better tomorrow
So what am i doing wrong here guys? Is my LAST hope really accutane? Or is there more regimans i could give a shot.

I would check the ingredients of your protein shakes. Many of them are very high in iodine (often in the form of kelp). Excessive iodine intake has been shown to be linked to acne flares.

Im thinking about missing all my classes because of this. 7 pea-sized cysts/papules (dont know the difference, although they are both UGLY) on my chin. UGH.
So what you guys think? Should i keep giving DK's regimen another month or 2? Or should i just pay the money to see dermatologist?
*Off-topic* Why is it that when you call a dermatologist for an appointment, you have to wait 1 - 2 weeks to actually meet them?

HAHA you sound just like me when you talk about your dermo. he always goes, ok i would say about 4-8 weeks and youll be all cleared. Just apply the tazorac at night. haha I have been on prescription creams for a year and still have it haha. Never tried accutane thouhg. I think that if your acne is to the point of danger then just do the accutane. I mean what else you got to loose right.
I might try using a different moisturizer though rather then the cetaphil. Its kind of a thick moisturizer. Try dans or i use a thing called lacticaid that i got from my doctor. Works good. schedual one more appointment with the dermo even though they always just tell you the same BS. Ive already had about like 15 dermo appointments. It's the same everything.

I know it's gimicky, but It really worked for me and I had terrible chin acne and mad rosacea. It can be pricey but clearly this is something that really bothers you so it can't hurt to try it out. I find that even though it is pricey, if you order online you save money AND if you're careful you can make it last for much longer than 8wks.

good luck!

I used to get really bad chin acne, but it's calmed down quite a lot. Mine was hormonal too, so I got prescribed on birth control (I'm a girl by the way) and it worked great. The only thing I could suggest is.. when you feel one of those big ones coming on, you know, when ur chin starts to hurt and you jus know it's gonna be a monster pimple on your chin... you could ice it (put the ice in a paper towel) on and off for a few mins a day. I never thought this would work, but it really does help. But you gotta catch it right when it's just forming. Dan also suggests zinc or fish oil pills because these are supposed to be good for inflammation, but I think you should ask your doctor about that first. Anywayz, good luck!

I don't know if me lifting weights and getting pumped causes me to get acne? because hormones sky rocket and i get PUMPED.
But im gonna try bfg's regimen. Whoa whoa whoa!
BFG states that if cysts appear at a rapid rate, then the regimen is working. I've been on dans regimen for 2months and at some point cysts did appear at a rapid rate. Should i continue for 1 more month? Or should just try bfg's. I have important things coming up next month and i would HOPEFULLY be cleared by then. (Im also goin to see a derm next week). Any suggestions?
oh and can anyone suggest a good moisturizer for a guy with oily and dry skin chin? Not to mention acne prone
