I'm really sick of getting these bumps, okay. Does anyone else suffer from them and KNOW what they could be caused by? I know when my skin gets very oily and unexfoliated they tend to get worse but I want to get them solved. They get inflamed and turn into zits and since they keep appearing there seems to be no end in sight for this evil acne.

They went down considerably during/3 months after accutane but I did still see a few appear whilst having no oil production on my face. I am going to my coked up derm this wednesday and want to try Spironolactone as my skin is EXTREMELY oily. Does anyone think this is a good solution?

Little help? By the way - my skin is very sensitive and I am prone to flushing so I don't think Retinoids are the way to go for me.

my daughter has the same problem and in the same area as you. She even has these on her temples and a few on her cheeks and jawline. Her chin and mouth are the worse....funny thing is though, she does not have oily skin. She is usually dry and flaky and red. I have noticed that certain makeup makes hers worse. Her regimen currently is dermagel in the am and BP at night and a salicylic toner. I have to say that these are the most stubborn and annoying pimples in the world. Wish I could be more help.

Thank you for the reply. I'm hoping they are just closed comedones but in reality I think they are either an allergy or a fungus. I get them after eating canned food or onions or anything in the onion family and also at other times. They just exploded when my skin became oily... which is why I suspect the fungus relation. I really do think your daughter should take an oral anti-fungal just to see if it is a fungus. I have waited two months for my derm appointment and I'm finally going this wednesday. I'm gonna ask for a series of scripts - something against pitysporum folliculitis is one of them. I am going to insist if he tried to dismiss that idea... ugh. Doctorsss.

I had those bumps and honestly what worked is using baking soda as a scrub. You can use it as a mask but be careful it doesn't over dry your skin. Use it once a week and you can use the scrub for 20 seconds 2 times a week for super oily skin.

Good luck

I am a victim of the bumps too. But mine are vastly improving, thanks to Differin XP and Benzaclin. I'd had the bumps for so long and tried many things- picking them, not picking them, BP, SA, exfoliation and nothing worked, so I'm sure the improvement is from the Differin and Benzaclin. They're almost gone and I've only been on them for 3 weeks, so I'd highly recommend these two.

well, the dermagel that my daughter is using is a milder vitamin A. Made by the same doctor that invented retin A. But derm-a-gel is milder and for sensitive skin. I think differin would just be way too irritating for my daughters skin.

Yup. This is what I have too. I hate that almost every one of mine gets inflammed. I am still debating whether they go away if I treat them with Finacea or if I just do nothing to them.

Does anyone know if Dermagel can be procured in Australia? I am too scared to use Differin. I searched the Retinoid Forum and have decided that I don't want to risk it, especially pre-Uni.

i used to have the same thing on my forhead. They werent bad from a far, but if you got up close you could see them plain as day. I started using Clean and Clear oxygenating foaming cleanser and w/in a week or so they were mostly gone. In my opinion its pretty good on black heads too. No acne medicine in it and it doesnt clog pores. If your derm disappoints you, its worth a shot.

looks like non inflammed acne..same prob for me...i use glyc 5%, derm a gel, and bp to control it.. also, icing helps a lot.. ice for 2mins twice a day.. doesnt get inflammed most of the time if u do it consistantly.. also my face is very sensitive as well, i used Green Cream and Paulas 2% BHA gel to get rid of those (yes successfully).. took 4months to get clear but it worked.. downfall is my face couldnt handle green cream anymore..it was always so raw and became even more sensitive.. but i have NO problem with derm a gel at all.. im experimenting with exfol-a which is a stronger version of derm-a-gel..doing well at the moment so i highly recommend dermagel for you if u want to try vitamin A product (great for ur skin)..u will go through purging most likely but 3months of purging is worth it in my opinion

Hi there -

I'm on Accutane now (low dose) but used to have mild acne and bumps on my chin and around my mouth area. My Derm. said I had adult acne and maybe perioral dermatitis. I didn't have acne as a teen but guess not lucky now I'm 39. Anyway, my Derm. said to use toothpaste without Sodium Lauryl/Laureth sulfate, which is in nearly all tooth paste. I bought Rembrandt sensitive which is without that ingredient. Also, check all your cleansers and hair products - most hair and skin products have that ingredient too and some are allergic to it (get bumps).

Good luck.

Yvette
