I remember a time when the odd spot used to upset me. Cysts are a completely different kettle of fish altogether.

When cysts develop whiteheads, can it be a good sign? I've had cysts all over my chin and it seems to just be the same infection spreading round in this area. If the pus gets extracted then will the infection go? Also, I know picking is awful, but if the head is really prominent then can it be squeezed? I know that doing this could spread the infection deeper into the skin, but I'm worried that it won't heal on its own and will just keep migrating over my face.

If you simply must pop them, lance the whitehead with a sterile needle (hot water and alcohol or flame). Then gently use two Q-tips (why? Because it is impossible to press hard with Q-tips) to gently press down AROUND the lesion, not directly on. Then wash hands, face, apply antibacterial cream and a bandaid. Otherwise, washing in the shower with warm water letting the water stream gently over your face may go ahead and allow them to drain without your assistance. If they do drain then apply the antibiotic and the bandaid.
If you have that many cysts, you should go to a dermatologist. It sounds like you may need professional intervention.

Thanks for that. Yes, I am thinking it may be time to see a dermatologist!
