Hi all,
Im 17 and have experienced some pretty bad acne for at least 2years. About November last year i decided to go and see my local GP about it and suprise suprise he prescribed me with antibiotics and.. to be fair i didn't see any improvement what so ever..
About july07 time they finally decided to put me on the tane which i had been waiting for, I have been on 40mg a day since then.. which i thought was abit of a low dose since im 6ft and a tad shy of 12stone.
But anyway iv probably seen a 70% improvement i would say, but the thing is i finish my prescription this week and im still getting the odd spot coming up still.. im scared of comin off the tane because i cant bear the thought of it going back to how it was, i used to have bacne, chestne and armne aswell as having it quite serious on ym face ( made one or 2 of them up cus i didnt know wat to call them hehe ). Now im mostly just left with scarring ( which totally sucks ).. and redness. Sorry for blabbing on.. but basicly whats the usual experience after finishing tane? i personally think i need some more tane!
Any views/advice would be appriciated.
Scared of finishing the Tane

My derm prescribed me a topical retinoid to use nightly after I came off Accutane...she said that it would keep my acne from coming back. I've been off tane for months and my skin is still clear, I imagine in part due to using Retin A. She thought that without a topical retinoid for maintenance, that my acne stood a good chance of coming back even though it might be mild. Has your derm suggested anything like that? If not, you may want to ask him/her about your concerns and what your options are to maintain the positive results from Accutane.
I'm not sure if your derm would recommend using Retin-A or another topical all over, and not just on your face, but maybe that's an option to keep any body acne from coming back as well. I used to get spots on my collarbone area and I haven't had a problem with them since I finished my course.

Ooh ok thanks Jess
Im fairly confident my body acne wont come back, I have seen a 100% improvement with that, its just my cheeks mostly that tend to get 1 or 2 pop up now and again. I shall speak to my derm then, i really want more tane, i just want to be sure it will never come back!
