I am not sure, my skin has been so hypersensitive for quite some time and very oily...I mean I always consider the thought that maybe the BP put me into SD territory, since my skin was never oily until my skin overreacted with the face wash...after that my skin was just pouring out oil...
So If I wash my face with water for an extended period, then wash with a cleanser here and there, that would be fine...thats why this does baffle me man...

Before i start rambling about the terrible side effect i got frm one of the topicals i used let me tell u a lil abt me. Im 21/m frm india. The climate out here is really hot and humid. I started gettin acne arnd 2004 i had got my acne nearly cleared by gettin glycolic peels and microdermabrasions done in 2005-6. In 2007 arnd march i went to my derm she prescribed me a cream called deriva-c gel (its got adapalene and clindamycin in it) was to be applied for every whole night. She said it'll make my skin smoother. Well im always in for clear n smooth skin. So i started the application 1st night when i applied it felt very cool as if ive applied ice on my face i kept it on my face for abt 15 mins 2nd night for 1hr and 3rd night i kept it for whole night. 4th day was terrible day in my life my face had become completely horrible with my skin peeled off like anything, rough rash burning itching scaling all over my cheeks and nose. It looked like someone spilt acid on my face! its been 6 months thinking tht things would get better with time but no major improvement. My present concern is tht my nose stays pink all the time ive got many white dead skin which is visible after my shower, in the day my face is quite dry by evening my face becomes very oily, ive got a lil redness on my cheeks too, i breakout into 2-3 pimples in a week or two but my pimples go away real fast. ive showed to many derms they say ive got seboherric dermatitis with mild rosacea and mild acne. Finally ive found the right derm after my visits to 7 derms. She has prescribed me mino 100mg, elidel cream and a hydrocortisone cream called fucidin-h. What do u guys say should i start with this ??? has any1 tired any of these medications plz let me know with details, thanks in advance and im really sorry for the long post hoping to get some replies....
I had SD for years. It would go away then come back a few months later.
Hydrocortisone cream helped, but what really did the trick for me was dandruff shampoo. My derm told me to try it, that the sebbhoreic dermatitis may be caused by dandruff. I thought he was crazy since I had no signs of dandruff whatsoever (no flaky scalp). But I started using the dandruff shampoo, and my SD went away and never came back.

I got what I thought was acne around my nose, mouth, and upper lip. But, it never went away. No whiteheads, just red crusty flaky skin. It would move around but never went away. So I decided it was a rash. I went to my primary care doctor who gave me some sort of steroid cream. That made it so much worse. Went to the derm who said the toher doctor never should have given me steroid cream. He gave me the treatment that worked.
I don't remember what hydrocortisone cream. I'm not sure it was even a prescription, probably just cream from the grocery store. I tried different dandruff shampoos but most smelled so gross. I settled on regular Head & Shoulders and within months, the SD was GONE. I still use tea tree shampoo several times a week.

Wait, you used a dandruff shampoo on your head and your facial SD went away?

Yeah. When my derm told me to use dandruff shampoo, I almost fired him. I was like, dude, I don't have dandruff, i have a rash on my face! But sure enough, using the dandruff shampoo got rid of my SD. I can only guess, perhaps the medicine from the shampoo gets in the skin and the face is close enough that it treated it that way? But honestly, I have no idea, all I know is that it worked when steroid creams and other treatments had failed.

Did you use it on your scalp or on your face?
and what was the shampoo called?
edit: oh regular head and shoulder
can you specify which type? Like which smell, and what it said on the bottle. THanks
