So heres my story
Up until i was 15 i literally had flawless skin. Whilst boys my age broke out left right and center i stayed clear as a bell. My skin was always soft and perfect. I took pride in it.
Then, turning 16, the nightmare began. All over my tzone, especially my forehead, i errupted in spots. These spots stuck around for the next two years until i decided to do something.
Proactiv solution was that something. Moving to university in England around the same time and having extensive exercise and an improved diet helped no doubt. Cutting out junk food from my life i have no doubt was a smart move. The occasional pack of quavers was allowed.
My face cleared over the course of about three months. The red marks were fading fast and no new acne was appearing. My face only saw the odd pimple and all i had to do was quickly cleanse every day and every night or so fling some BP from Proactiv into the mix. Months past being clear. Sometimes i just washed with water
Then, suddenly, towards the end of the year, when i returned home from university, my skin errupted. a few small spots i attacked vigorously with products. this only spread the problem.
A summer of hellish, inflammed, nasty and angry acne later and im still battling a few spots.
I've started doxycycline last week on 50mg once a day in conjuction with BP. but i really want to make sure the only thing i use on my face is apricot scrub because im SICK of plastering chemicals on my face.
I am seriously at a low. I was used to feeling confident and attractive in my own skin last year, and now i have people asking me what happened? I want to know the same thing

Good luck on doxycycline clearing you! I've been on it for about a week now, although I'm on 100mg once a day. You wrote this a few months ago, so hows it gone?

Hello everyone,
Im oliver and i have been on doxycycline capsules for 2 months now, i have only seen a small improvement, however, its taken all the redness out of my skin, the spots that were under the skin that was making it red has all gone. I would say, about 6 months you should start to see a difference and be happy. I cant take tablets, but i open it up and take it with liquid. Either way, its getting in the system.
Anymore help, feel free to add me on msn..

some questions that i would like to ask are: How long should they start taking a better effect and how clear can your acne become with these anti biotcis? please help..
Best of luck to all !

careful with the apricot scrub...i used to use it, but i realized scrubbing my skin with big grainy objects like that was too rough and was only exacerbating the problem. there is an alternative version of it, by the same company (i'm assuming you're using st. ives) that's a little gentler AND has alpha-hydroxy stuff in it, which i've found really works better than the big scrubby things, it's called the "renew & firm" apricot scrub...same packaging, but with a light green strip across it.
good luck though! doxy really helped me when i was on it, but it took a month or two to start noticing.
