OK, so this opportunity is specific, but it is also very cool if you fit the above parameters and agree to those below. Non-inflamed acne means acne that is under the skin and is not red. It's the much less common kind of acne that you can see when you spread the skin and appears like under-the-skin white bumps which are deeply embedded. It can also include blackheads. Non-inflamed acne can benefit from an esthetician's trained hands. Inflamed acne on the other hand, which is red and comes to the surface, can usually be nicely cleared up with The Regimen. Laura and Pat, the owners of Face Reality Skin Care clinic in San Leandro, CA have asked me to post the following pro bono offer for non-inflamed acne sufferers:

We'd like to offer 3 acne.org readers:
- 6 free treatments
- 1yr. supply of products

To qualify they must:
- be financially incapable of paying for the service and products
- live within 50 miles of Face Reality
- be willing and able to arrive on time to an appointment every two weeks
- promise to use products as instructed
- provide completed questionnaire and signed consent form
- provide 5 digital photos of their face (1 from each side, 1 from a 45 degree angle from each side and one straight on)
- have parent consent if under 18 yrs. old
- post on acne.org describing their experience and progress (how often do you think is appropriate?)
- allow progress photos to be used on acne.org

Please email them directly at facerealityskincare@yahoo.com

Just wanted to add that this is the acne clinic I go to, and I have gotten excellent results from their services (I had a combo of non-inflamed and inflamed acne when I first went to them).

Must you have severe non inflamed acne, or does severity not matter?

I don't think severity matters - I'm sure they will work with any level of non-inflamed acne.

I live 30 miles from this place and I have mild non-inflamed acne (bumps under the skin and blackheads), plus I don't have any money! I sent them an email. I wonder if they'll pick me. eusa_think.gif

Willow-do you know what kind of techniques and products they use?

does it matter that I use to have mild inflamed acne? I am completely clear of that, I just have a few really stubborn bumps under my skin (they aren't really noticeable but I can definitely feel them) and some really stubborn blackheads, plus I have some marks I haven't been able to get rid of either.

That's totally fine. They treat all forms of acne there, so they can definitely work with your skin even if you have had inflamed acne.

Okay I am confused. I spoke to the manager and he sent me the questionnaire, consent forms, and directions. He told me I have to bring all my products with me to my first appointment so they can analyze them. He never said "we pick you" and he didn't tell me when my first appointment is. I am guessing this means they chose me but I am not sure.

Another question-where should I post my log? I am planning on posting everyday and posting weekly pictures of my progress. I have acne marks too so I don't want to just post in the non-inflamed forum.

If you are unsure about whether they are offering the treatment to you, I would just call and ask them.

We are going to create a section for these logs. When you find out about your treatment (appt time and all that), you can go ahead and put your log in the general regimen section for now. When we get the new section up (probably labeled Face Reality Clinic logs), then I can move it over for you.

So I talked to Pat and my first appointment is next friday at 11:30am woohoo! They are so nice over there! He talked to me about my pictures and everything and he was so friendly and helpful! I am so excited about this! I can't believe I am doing this though because I am so insecure about my skin and I never take pictures without makeup on. I honestly don't care though, I want people to see my progress. Am I the only one doing it though? I thought they are offering treatment to two other people? I will post my log in the general forum this weekend and I will put in another entry after the first treatment and when I start my home treatments I will be posting everyday. How did they come up with this idea?

Yay!! I'm excited for you! They are very, very nice - everyone that works there. I never took pics with makeup off either, but I did it for their before and after photos. I even agreed to let my pics get used on their website. I never would have thought I'd be ok with that! It was also reassuring for me to be somewhere where you didn't feel like you were being judged for having skin problems. They see it all there, so I figured my skin wasn't the worst thing they had ever seen! smile.gif They are some of the only people I am comfortable talking to when I don't have makeup on - and they still like me regardless! smile.gif Sort of a liberating feeling.

I think they have one other person on board for their treatment plan, and space for one more. They have been wanting to do this for awhile, so I know they are excited to start it. I will see about getting the log section rolling.

Good luck!! I can't wait to see your progress!

Does this mean that there's a sort of agreement between acne.org and the clinic?

Yep. Laura and Pat (clinic owners) discussed this with Dan beforehand and worked out all the details.

Does the clinc still need non-inflamed acne sufferers?

I think they may have one more opening available. I'll check on that.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself - I'm the third person in the Face Reality program. I've been a longtime reader here and I've used Dan's BP gel for a couple of years. I'm very excited about this opporunity! I will start a thread in the Personal Regimen Logs area and update it as often as I can. My first appointment is next Thursday Nov 1.

They actually still have one more opening if someone else meets the criteria and is interested.
