I have my first scheduled vbeam tomorrow. I've read all the posts I can find her about it...seems as if people have had mixed results. Oddly the derm wasn't very enthusiastic about it...said it's not that great for active acne, and that even if it fades old red spots somewhat that's useless because my acne isn't under control and I will just get more. But I've exhausted just about all other options at this point so I'm going to try it. So if you have any advice or want to tell me your experiences with it... the derm seems like a little bit of an idiot so I'd rather ask someone who actually knows from experience, not a textbook (he doesn't usually use vbeam for acne...sadly the only derm in the area who even uses laser at all).

One thing I'm concerned with is that I have a class right after the first treatment that I really cannot miss...and I can only do the treatment at that time. will I be in any shape to go to the class? does it look inflamed and red and swollen right after, or how long does it take?

As for treatment after- should I use the same stuff as usual? (cleanser, toner, antibiotic ointment, and moisturizer?)

thanks! I do hope this helps..

I wouldnt waste my $ on the vbeam. I had it done once and your options are to get bruised or not to be bruised. If they bruise an area then the down time isnt as long but it looks like someone literally hit you (depending on where the vbeam is)

The first treatment seems to have gone fine. He said he used a low setting, so there was no bruising, just a little redness that faded in a few hours.

If you're going to see a reduction in old red marks, will it be apparent immediately after (like, hours) after the procedure or over the course of a few weeks?

Naturally, the lower the setting the longer it will take for old red marks to subside. Have you ever considered IPL treatments? I had a few and they worked wonders on me regarding red marks...I would like to get another treatment done but I am currently on Accutane and I believe one cant get any cosmetic procedures performed on their face while on the drug.

I had my first V beam Laser yesterday and pregnant which is a concern for me. Doctor said it was fine. Anyhow the laser felt like little rubber bands snapping at my cheeks. The procedure took less than five minutes, absolutely no bruising, swelling or peeling. The doc only used the laser on my existing red and brown marks. I did pay $500 and feel like i was ripped off. Maybe he took it easy on me because of my sensitive skin and the pregnancy. How long was your treatment? Fight The Acne!!!!
