Ive been suspecting I have rosacea or contact dermatitis which was caused by accutane(damn you accutane!). And the more I use makeup the more they're noticeable and aggravates it. I've tried different kinds of makeup...all of them seem to make me breakout! My skin is usually dry after washing my face but it gets really oily in the afternoon. I also tried tinted moisturizers but they just irritated my skin and gave me painful bumps after a few days of using them. And don't get me started on mineral makeup either....they just accentuate my flaws and pores! So do people with rosacea here wear makeup? If so what is it? I cant seem to accept the fact that I have to stop using makeup everyday...that is just a total nightmare...

I also don't know why my cheeks have different texture than the rest of my skin on my forehead and the side of my face..they seem normal and I can use bp to treat acne there. But my cheeks are scaly and itchy and doesnt seem to have that normal skin texture to it! I can't use bp there as it really burns my skin and gives me weird reaction...Id like to think its excema but I have bumps and small pustules that have small pusses on them. Id also like to think I have rosacea but I dont seem to be having flushes anymore...SO now Im suspecting i have contact dermatitis becausee everything seems to aggravate my skin! Im really getting frustrated and feel suicidal lately. I just feel like nobody can give me answers...sigh. Not even derms..

PLS PLS reply as I feel so alone...thanks!

comfort.gif Im sorry sad.gif I to have severe redness on my cheeks also and certain products just make my face sting there. I havent had a problem with dans bp but anything with jojoba oil (his moisturizer for example) makes my face, especially my cheeks bright red and irritated. I dont know if this would help but CeraVe moisturizer is supposed to help with dermititis and ezcema (sp?) I think. I also started using Revlon Colorstay yesterday and it was wonderful biggrin.gif

I don't know much about the condition but my friend's mother has it and she wears make-up all the time. the make-up doesn't bother her at all, so it must be some sort of special kind.

Wow, you sound so much like me! I completely feel your pain!

To answer your main question, you can probably wear makeup so long as it is non-comedogenic and it is moisturizing. But since everyone is different, you may not get the same reaction as everyone else. I know that from personal experience.

With my severely red cheeks and chin, I've tried the mineral makeups too, but they seemed to emphasize the flaws in my skin too much. So I've settled with a liquid foundation for now, Clinique Superfit. It covers very well, and keeps my cheeks from drying out without looking too greasy.

You mentioned that the BP seems to be too strong for your cheeks. Maybe try treating your skin as being ultra sensitive and work with extremely gentle products first, and then build up from there. That is what I'm doing right now. So if you haven't already tried it, start with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (not the one for oily skin), and then moisturize with Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. See if that alone will help minimize the irritation. It did wonders for me. I still have the redness but the pustules did reduce a lot.

Good luck to you!

I relate... I can NEVER find a cover up or foundation that COVERS or doesn't enhance my mysterious undiagnosable dermatitis or excema.. I have to use a foundation for old ladies that is for mature skin.. creamy and thicker.. thats the only thing that works for covering but I think it breaks me out?

I don't understand how people on bp regimen use mineral powders
