Someone Suggested I should detail the procedure so here it goes:

This is a somewhat basic summary of the procedure

-Why?
ALA/PDT is given as an option to all patients with acne, for example to patients who are not seeing results with the Aramis/Yag lasers.

-Whom?
Most patients with the exception of very dark skin types(V-Vl) are suitable for ALA/PDT.

-Risks?
There is the risk that you may develop post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation (red brown marks)that may last for a few weeks to several months(apparently that has occurred 15% of the time in the place where I am going.)

-Benefits?
MOST patients see a fast reduction in the active acne on their first treatment, though more treatments are needed for maximum results.

-How much?
It totally depends where you go, here where I am going they are charging me $3600 for 8 laser treatments, but you can substitute 2 Aramis/Yag for 1 ALA/PDT, they say that it is usually $900 alone for one.

-Satisfaction
There is ultimately no cure for acne, all of us respond differently, this is just an alternative treatment.

Post PDT Instructions

It is a very intense procedure the post treatment is highly severe.

-ABSOLUTELY NO SUN EXPOSURE FOR 2 DAYS!
-7 days prior to the ALA, you must avoid the sun
-Of course SPF 30+
-No hot showers
-Do not pick at scabs
-No smoking for 2 hours after procedure
-No Exercise for 4 hours " "

Sorry, for my lousy instructions, didn't feel like copying word for word. Hope they help, ask for any questions regarding this, and maybe just maybe I can give you a cheap excuse for an answer. smile.gif

Well I am scheduled to go this Friday, it lasts for 1hour and 30 minutes and it is "activated" by the blue light.I'll post results as soon as I get them, which hopefully I will.
