Hi, I'm going to be starting accutane 20mg/day in a few days and was wondering if anyone had any experience with their eyes drying out from accutane while wearing contacts. If so, what did you use? I need to wear contacts but if its that big a deal I guess I can switch to glasses but I'd really rather not...any ideas?

20 mg doesn't seem enough to really affect you unless you experience some dryness already. I normally used Bausch and Lomb regular and Sensitive Eyes solution along with Sensitive Eyes drops when wearing contacts(I also use Thera Tears lubricant drops for discomfort, which is not to be used for rewetting contacts). One side effect I had from tetracycline was dryness which escalated with isoretinoin, right now I alternate between tinted glasses and contacts.

I am on day 31 and I am just staring to notice my eyes getting slightly dry. I haven't even used anything drop wise yet. Night before last I feel asleep with my contacts in and it was a little worse, just make sure you take them out daily and maybe trying wearing glasses occasionally to relieve you eyes from some of the dryness.

I totally agree (and suprisingly, I too am on day 31, exactly... carazy...) I personally switch off glasses/ contacts every few days, just to give my eyes a break. This is my second course, its strange, the first time through, I don't remember getting dry eyes... then again, I did get pink eye 2 times during that summer, but I had attributed to the fact I didn't take out my contacts for upwards of a month at a time (not supposed to even leave them in over night...

YaY! Somebody on the exact same day, we will have to compare notes LOL. Yes, I think everybody on TANE should make sure to remove their contacts ona daily basis. I used to be really bad about it to, probably lucky I didn't go blind from that wierd disease you can get from sleping with them in.
