ladiessss i need ur help!!!!

how can i make my face look dry but not too dry???
im on accutane n my face isnt too dry nor too oily so i ordered the matte foundation, however when i put it on my face looks flakey n blah...too dry. i dont want the semi matte bcuz i dont want my face so shiny llookin. i kno u guys say i coould mix it with moisturizer but im afraid i may break out. are there any other ways to make my face look more natural rather too dry or too oily???

THANK YOU!!!
ugh i plan to go out tmorro hopefully it doesnt look as bad as it did today.

also, i have a medium/tan complexion...what can i use for the redmarks? they've ver noticeble even w/make up....the redmarks end up lookin brownish.

Yes i had this problem when i first started using EM. Goes to show how really dry my face was.

I started using Cetaphil Moisturising Cream (btw it has great reviews on makeupalley) just at night only and my face wasnt dry anymore when i applied EM. This is only what helped me. And my face was very very dry. I use aloe vera gel mixed with a bit of cetaphil cream during the day, but i apply a generous amount of the cream at night only.

I ordered some samples of EM on 8/19, and they arrived today. I was pretty surprised at how large the samples are. I think the site says they will last for a few days, but if they are like other mineral makeups these samples will last at least a month.

I've tried BE in the past (not my fault - a lady at Sephora accosted me!). It looked okay, but a couple of hours later the makeup looked 'cracked' on any blemishes I had. Plus Sephora lady put the bronzer thing on way too heavy and I looked freakish, but that was easy to fix.

I used another MMU that actually was developed by someone on these boards, and I quite liked it for a while. I can't use it anymore though because it makes my skin go flaky no matter what. Even if I applied it as a tinted moisturizer, insta-flakes. After I try EM I will report back!

moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. lots of peeps on here luv cetaphil moisturizing cream. i use hope in a jar by philosophy and when i get especially dry from too much BP, i use when hope is not enough by philosophy. both are 99% oil free but moisturize like it's nobody's biz. if ur going to use MMU u have to make sure ur moisturized as MMU can magnify any dryness. i also use a primer called the present by philosophy (i'm a total philosophy gal). it's also moisturizing, but not oily. it helps to diffuse imperfections on the skin. it's my last step b4 i apply my MMU.

as for redmarks - concealer should do the trick. if they start out red, then try the mint concealer by EM. apply it wet with a concealer brush then buff on your EM foundation. if they're still visible, then i would suggest an intensive concealer, again wet. also, have you thought about maybe switching to the intensive formula of foundation for extra coverage?

i have hyperpigmentation on my chin, lower cheeks, and temple areas that only the intensive formula can cover. i don't need really need any additional concealer to hide them as the foundation does a fabo job by itself.

Yeah, with some items that you use sparingly, I don't think there's any reason to buy anything but the samples.

It was the blush brush. I don't use that one anymore; I use their kabuki and concealer brush and have no problems with either. I have used the blush brush maybe two times, so I guess I'll wash it and see if that helps it!

I am using a cheapie flat top kabuki from a drugstore and it works fine, but I am tempted to try either the AN or the EM brushes...but I'm not going to buy anymore brushes right now! smile.gif

I also have a lot of actual artist brushes for oil and watercolor. I'm using them to apply eyeshadows and they work beautifully! biggrin.gif Already had them, so no new expenses for eyeshadow brushes. wink.gif They actually cost more than most makeup brushes, but they work very well and I did not see the point in buying anything else when I already had something that would work well. And it does.

Well, after my first try with EDM, I'm not impressed at all. After only about 6 hours of wearing it, it's all but faded off. It didn't cover that well to begin with though. I had to apply several layers to get it looking good. For about an hour I was moderately happy with it, but the coverage didn't seem much different from what I was using before (Next of Skin by Origins).

I'm using brushes that aren't that great, which maybe is the problem. Right now I have Sonia Kashuk brushes that I got from Target.

Anyways, I'm going to give EDM a few more tries before I make a final decision.

So I used a little Bio-oil on my face this morning then applied some EM and it applied amazingly! Just be sure not to use too much it can easily make a weird paste of minerals and oil.

It may be how you are applying it that is causing the coverage to be so minimal. I suggest you mix a dime sized amount of EDM with a dime size amount of your favorite moisterizer and use this as your base. Then brush on, one light coat of your foundation and conceal. I think if you use this technique you will get better coverage.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not having any troubles with getting good coverage. smile.gif I was just sharing some 'brushes experience.'

Perhaps you meant your advice for the other people who were having trouble with coverage?

Hello! I'm Fair Neutral Intensive, which sounds kinda sexy. But I guess you could put "intensive" after anything and make it sound kinda sexy.

I received my order of the Starter Kit today and I must say I am very impressed with their customer service. Their deliveries are fast! It took about 3 days which is more than I can say for anything else I've ever bought online and for way cheaper shipping.

I've been a user of Bare Minerals for about a year now. The only reason I wanted to switch was because BM (LOL how unfortunate) was so expensive, I just can't afford a $25 tub of powder, even considering how long it lasts. When I saw how inexpensive EM is, I decided to give it a shot.

I'm frikkin' stoked, so say the least. Their colors are better, their quality is better, and their selection is better. It's just...better. I think the only thing that would make it better is if it came with a strapping young cabana boy, all oiled and wrapped, as a free gift. Then I would just go ahead and give them my soul.

Nice thing is I can still use my Bare Minerals brushes with the EM. Which is good, because those brushes really are of good quality. If you don't already have them, though, don't buy them. EM has just as good quality and you won't bite your tongue off as you have a seizure in your specialty beauty shop after seeing the price.

^ That strapping young cabana boy sounds good...but I have my own so it wouldn't be such a great inducement for me. I already love the EM makeup, anyway. smile.gif Yes, BM is rather unfortunate. I snicker a bit every time I see those initials for makeup. biggrin.gif

Sorry it didnt work for you today. sad.gif But dont worry, another couple of tries and you will get the hang of it. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. When i first started EM, i was like 'nup this isnt going to work', and my minerals wasnt even and it didnt cover well etc. And i was so close to giving up.

I started getting the hang of it after a couple of tries and now im a PRO! biggrin.gif

what formula are you using? intensive gives great coverage. it takes about 2 layers to get the coverage just right, but after that, my face is flawless. Sonia Kashuk brushes are decent brushes, are you using a kabuki? if so, you might want to try a flat-top kabuki brush. this is the brush i use Philosophy The Supernatural Multi-Use Natural Hair Brush

it works great - i love it!
