A moisturizer under it really is good for many. If it made you itch, though, you might not want to continue unless you choose a different formulation, not the intensive. Another idea that might help is a primer if you can find one you like.
Mixing the MMU with a moisturizer is a lovely idea shared by many of the posters above, so that sounds like a great way to make a tinted moisturizer that provides some coverage. I don't see it as providing a lot of coverage, though.
I did note that I itched when I used one particular one of the BM brushes I had. I don't use that brush anymore and don't itch when I use the other BM brushes I have, nor the one beauty supply store brush that I bought.
PS: We won't storm or rant at you for not being a member of the EMC.

Ha ha ok good! LOL
And another question how different of coverage or look is it if you spray the brush or face with water?
It's more coverage if one applies the foundation wet. I just mix up (in a separate container) a bit of water and foundation until its a consistency I like and then apply it to an individual red mark as needed.

I am soooo dying for them to come out with a pressed powder compact....I emailed EM & they say they should have them sometime this winter. Until then I haven't figured out a neat & clean way to carry some MMU in my purse for late in the day touch ups....I don't want a purse full of loose powder...
Oh, as far as the wet vs. dry application, I find I can get just as good of coverage applying it dry. If I apply a whole face wet, it does not help soak up my oily shine as well, which is one of the pluses of MMU for me. If I use too much moisturizer or don't let it mostly dry before applying then I have the same shine problem.
So if you're super oily I recommend dry application and incorporating a flat top brush with your kabuki for extra & even coverage. 3 layers of intensive + concealer applied dry covers as well as a heavy liquid foundation for me, back when I had dark purple "red" marks & nasty pustules too. It still looks way more natural than if I was layering liquid foundation (which I had to do...I have always had to layer for my desired coverage).
For anyone who itches, it may be brush; the first brush I used with MMU was cheap & itched like crazy. Once you find a good brush, keep it clean. If I get lazy & don't wash mine every week then it will itch. I will not pretend either, my $45 Lancome brush is much softer/smoother than my $10 kabuki, and it is much less likely to itch me. So sometime you get what you pay for.
Now what I want to know about is using the flocked sponge....do you just apply it the way you would apply powder from a compact? What are the benefits of applying it this way?

I think the coverage is a bit heavier. But some mmu brands come with them. I bought the chenille puff because that's what the built in applicator in Urban Decay, and I think Philosophy, looked like to me. And I could find one small enough for my vintage compact.

yeah philosophy MMU comes with a built-in flocked sponge applicator. the coverage is heavier but i found that i wasted more product using the sponge. i get comparable coverage with my philosophy brush.

Which brand of brushes do you guys recommend? the everyday mineral ones look kinda stiff? i was looking at the bare escentuals ones but Wynne made the comment that one particular brush made her face itch....are there any other brands that have a kabuki brush?

In my experience, the Bare Escentual brushes were very harsh and made my face itch...it was like putting on my makeup w/ sand paper
I use Aubrey Nicole's large kabuki brush ($10) and I love it ...it's synthetic and it's the softest brush I've ever used...it also gives me great coverage. I've also heard rave reviews about their Premium line of brushes, so you can check those out as well at the Aubrey Nicole website. Some people really like EM brushes, so you can look into those as well...I use the EM concealer brush and I think it works really well.
Oh ladies, I have another tip for ya'll:
Blush a little too bright? Try mixing in some of your foundation into it, then apply it. It "dilutes" the color, so you get more of a soft, diffused color that's more wearable.

I love EM's premium kabuki. Its great and gives smooth, even coverage.

I used EM for 6 months and quit for the summer since I wanted a really simple routine. I just donated 12 inches of hair today and got an extra 4 inches off in layers so instead of spending my time before school on my hair it'll probably all go towards perfecting my EM and maybe learning eyeliner
Oh, does anybody think using Bio-Oil would be a good primer/moisturizer for EM?

Im a multi-tasker and totally LOVE the APPLE blush
Soon i have my Sunday Brunch arriving. Think this one will be a nice one too. I have Best Friends, but dont really like it much. Ive used it once. The Waffle Cone ive used a couple of times. But you have to put more to start showing up on your skin. Its more of a 'light bronzer'.

I have been using EM for nearly a year and im in Australia, Brisbane!! For a normal order it usually takes about 2-3 weeks. But i use mail method, so if you use CC, your order will arrive much sooner
My mail takes about 2wks to get there (sometimes 1 wk!!) and my order takes 1 wk to get here.
Theres a huge VogueAU thread on EM.

I think the Bio-oil will be a little too greasy to use during the day, even though you still use a little. But if its during the night, your skin will be nice and moisturised for EM in the mornings.

I use "Soft" bronzer, multi-tasking concealer, the EM premium kabuki and the EM concealer brush.
I also have the "Finishing Dust" finishing powder but I don't use it (I just don't feel the need for another layer on my skin-I'm not oily after accutane). I also don't see this type of fonishing powder on their website anymore...
I usually use 2-3 layers because I like the flawless look, and it's super quick (I never really found it more time consuming that liquid foundation).
I think I may go for "Fair" neutral for winter and use it either alone or mixed with fairly light because something a tad lighter then fairly light might actually hide my melasma a bit more and blend in with my neck color (I have about 45% melasma on my face so it's hard to match foundation to my real skin color...matching my melasma makes my whole face darker than my neck. But then again, it is darker than my neck...

2. THANKS for the tips! I'm going to be reading this thread every single day.
3. Feel free to PM me with questions about nursing school or things that pertain to nursing if you're interested in a nursing career. OR you can even make a topic in the Lounge once you've Veteran Member status and that will work great as more than one nursing student to be can benefit. And we do have several RNs who are on staff AND who are members here.
I just thought of another tip: mix blush into moisturizer and we have a cream blush! I can't do that as cream blushes do not look good on my scarred orangepeel texture face.
'tash, I'm so surprised you don't like Best Friends blush! Wow. It is my absolute favoritest blush ever. Are you very pale with pink undertones? I'm olivey with yellow undertones, not a teeny bit of pink to me. I am pale, though, but I tan easily and fast when I used to tan. Shoot, that reminded me I have to have a basal cell carcinoma removed the end of this month. *sighs* Let that be a lesson to you: do not tan! Do not go to tanning beds! If I end up with a hideous scar I am taking a picture of it and I am posting it as a warning to those of you who tan.

If you like to use vaseline on your lips try mixing some with your favorite blush in an empty sample jar. Microwave it for 30 seconds then tap the container on your counter until the vaseline settles nicely. When it cools it will harden slightly and makes a great lip gloss.
