Hi, my first post here

and panicking ! Have had acne forever, now in my 40s... mainly redness and some scarring now. Went to see the infamous Dr Chu today. Very nice man, said I had a little active acne but mostly redness and some shallow scarring. Suggested a retinoic cream, dermaroller and laser. Said he could do a test patch there and then. Asked which "laser" as had read a little about them, he said N-lite and I thought cant do any harm.... as not invasive and I am cautious about subjecting my skin to anything that could possibly make it worse !

Did a tiny patch on my cheek (about 3 bursts I think). Was immediately red and now turned into a black/purple blood blister ! Surely this isnt normal? I thought this was something people could have done in their lunch hour!

I'll obviously ring them tomorrow and find out what they say, but please somebody, tell me you've had the same and it'll be ok ..! smile.gif All I know is that I dont think I'll be having any more ..

HI Lamarr

Thanks smile.gif. I've calmed down a bit now .... two days later and receding a little ... dont know how long it will take to go. Rang Dr Chu's office and they said "It does happen to some people, and should go in a few days .... "

Hope it does ! Although puts me off having more ... if I had a larger area done it would mean lots of these marks (which reading further on this site think are "purpura")? Yes, I did panic, but I was scared I'd done something that just added to my problems ..!

Thanks again.

It will go for sure, it is just like a bruise in essence...

I mean im sure Dr Chu would use lower settings next time he does the whole treatment so it wouldn't be to widespread...

Not too happy .... 5 days later and mark is now a deep red; it is also like a pock mark - ie caused an indentation in the skin .... so at the moment I now have a red mark and a pock mark that I didnt have before I started ....

Thanks Lamarr, the voice of reason smile.gif, I hope you're right ! How deep .... hmm how to explain, looks like a pitted hole (like a rolling scar?) and I can feel the dent with my finger ...
I have red marks left over from acne from many many years ago, so my skin obviously doesnt heal that well and I've a feeling that the red mark and the pock mark will go the same way ... The main reason that I havent used anything on my skin for years ... seems whatever I try (and tried in the past) just makes it worse!

I've also been recommended Isotrexin - havent got the prescription yet but I am going to use v e r y sparingly .. Oh woe is me!

isotrexin is powerfull stuff i used it for over a year myself! it did help clear me quite well but i think it was more the erythromycin in it. You saw Dr Chu, he will do the very best anyone can do for your skin. If the scar doesn't fill in completely im sure he will correct it with the dermaroller (very successfull for shallow scaring). I am hopeing to go to him for this treatment in the future!!
