Hello everyone,

As I said in my other post, the other day my derm told me he wants me to go on Accutane (I've tried all other acne meds, nothing worked). I have mild cystic acne..nothing severe. I'm very apprehensive about going on Accutane, but I'm desperate for something that actually works. When I do get the cysts, they are huge and they always scar. Retin-A 0.1% has not helped for the scarring.

So, I decided to pull my hair all the way back and post some pictures. Do you think my acne is bad enough to warrant Accutane?

P.S. Don't mind the black boxes...I didn't want my eyes on there. confused.gif

THIS is the side I have the most problems on

Up close of the problem side.

The arrow on the neck is pointing to scarring. Also, on my cheek is scaring.

Thanks everyone

Since you are scarring, Accutane is a great option. Your acne is definitely mild, but the fact that it scars means it needs a different treatment since nothing else has worked, you say.

Scarring is one reason I went on Accutane, but mine (both acne and scarring) was actually considerably worse when I did start Accutane years ago.

Thanks everyone,

I was pretty set on going forth with it...until someone said to me, "Are you sure you want to do this leading up to your wedding in March? I've heard it makes your skin get considerably worse before it gets better." The mere thought of having pictures taken at my wedding and me having a face full of zits is not too encouraging.

You have PLENTY of time to get on accutane, have an initial breakout (which you probably won't even get with such mild acne-I didn't either time I was on accutane), recover from it, get off accutane and have beautiful skin for your wedding smile.gif

I don't really see much scarring.

I don't either, but one scar means there is the potential for more.

Ashley: You have plenty of time to start Accutane now and have beautiful skin by March. The worst should be over in three months. smile.gif My skin looked gorgeous within two-three months of starting Accutane.
