hey everyone,
If I put neosporin on an active zit or a zit I just popped, will it help get rid of it? I only have like 3 small pimples on my forhead, 2 I already popped and one isnt coming to a head and I'd really like to either get rid of them or make them fade a lot by tomorrow because I'm going out and wanna look good, so do you think neosporin will do anything good?
Thanks

i'd say ice it and take a redness reliever such as advil.

i use neosporin w/ the pain reliever in it(cream)...it helps them heal faster and gets the bacteria out...idk if it helps that fast but it might

I occasionally use Neosporin on zits. I'm not entirely sure if it helps, but I figure it can't hurt *too much*.

Thats what I used, and I actually think it does help. I used ACV toner on my face, then iced my active zits, then put Neosporin on them and that combo made them a lot smaller and less red, and they were just small red marks the next day. I think im gonna definitly add this to my regimin for like right after I pop a zit to get rid of all the bacteria and help it not scar.

Neosporin does help, as does icing and use of an anti-inflammatory. Neosporin plus pain is a great recommendation. Antibiotic ointments/creams may also improve the risk of PIH or indented scarring from what I see personally. This is only anecdotal evidence, I have no scientific studies to show or prove that antibiotic creams in a vaseline type base or other cream base help with scarring, but it is my personal experience that it does.

i use a regular vitamin e oil on open zits and it seems to help them heal faster and leave less of a scar if one at all

This may be a stupid question, but...
I've seen many people talk about using SudoCreme to treat spots. I'd never heard of this (must not be in US?) and looked it up on the internet to find it was zinc oxide, like diaper rash cream. I looked at my 18 month old's Desitin (diaper rash cream) list of ingredients and didn't see anything that was on the comedogenic list. It is only 10% zinc oxide as opposed to the Sudocreme's 15%. Would Desitin help you heal - with or without neosporin cream?
I stupidly messed with a lovely cyst on my chin, and even though I was super gentle - several layers of skin have come off. (Thanks to Differin and BP, that skin tearing off thing tends to be quite common now.) The infection is still there under the skin too. Ugh!
Since I'm home all weekend, I'm tempted to put the Desitin on top of the neosporin to help it heal and create a barrier. Or do you think it would make the infection worse?

There was a time when I asked myself the same question. I thought that because it was great on on cuts - well wouldn't it be great on a just popped zit?
Shockingly NO it isn't. At least not for me. The times I used it it not only re-infected the zit but caused more zits in the vicinity around the one I was trying to kill off. It was the Neosporin +pain reliever.
Now I use straight up 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. You can get it cheap - 1 pint for less than a buck at wal-mart. Yeah it does burn a little bit when you apply it but it works. Eventually you won't think anything about it after you have used it for a while.
EDIT: Just re-read that you want to get it to fade. Well best thing you can do is get a small dish. Mix 1-2 UNCOATED aspirin with just a little bit of Plain Yogurt (I prefer yogurt cuz its great for the skin, but if you didn't have any you could just mix in a few drops of water). I'm talking as little as you can to make a thick paste - always start with a little bit, you can always add more. Apply that onto said popped zit for 15-30 min. Now I have been doing aspirin masks for a while, so I can let it sit on my skin a bit longer, but if it starts to burn wash it off right away. If it's your first one I recommend starting with 10-15 min and see how it goes. I would also try and do this at least twice a day - once right before bed.

I use neosporin both gel/cream on pimples that have been popped. I've never used it on active pimples. From my experience, it does help reduce the chance of PIH but its by no means completely rids me of it. IMO, using neosporin on post popped pimples speeds up the healing process and reduces the chances of it leaving a mark just as it would with any other wound/cut.
