Try using topicals for now, they are supposed to work better post tane. You should see your derm about possibly getting a long term low-dose maintenance course, to keep you clear.

Just make sure that there is no underlying medical cause for your acne, if there is then accutane wont help you unfortunately.

ive read somewhere that accutane has a lower chance of curing teens than adults because teen acne is usually more severe. maybe if you can wait few more years and take it at like 19, you might be cured then. I started getting acne at 15 and now im 22 and still have spots, but i never took accutane before.

I'm 15. Just got accutane today. School starts in 2 weeks.
I know what you mean by wanting clear skin for school.
It sucks having to worry about whether people are staring
at your face. Stay strong! I def. recommend going back to the derm asap! smile.gif
Call often in case they get cancellations. You could get in quicker! biggrin.gif

How bad is it? The odd small pimple here and there does not necessarily mean that your acne will return full scale. I get the occassional one, but mostly I just spot treat it and all is good.

my acne returned after 8 months of finishing accutane.
i'm on my second course now.
i think i'll keep taking acctuane until i get cured.
some people have been on their 5 th course already.
the alternative is a long routine of washes, creams, moisturisers, facials - i cant be bothered with that twice a day,
i want 'normal skin' like the general public has - most people dont have to care for their skin so religously as we do. so why should i?

Accutane will work better after puberty.

When your hormones settle its easier for accutane to do its job. I know people who were given accutane at 15 , one being my brother and another 16 year old guy at my school, and their acne came back. My brother eventually grew out of it. I'm not saying you should have to wait, I'm just saying its less effective when your hormones are everywhere.

Can I ask what age you first got acne?
