shit shit shit! I have to get blood work done in an hour and half and I forgot to fast!! It totally slipped my mind.. I woke up and ended up having a small bowl of raisin bran until it wasn' until after I was finished that I remembered I wasn't suppose to eat ... what kind of effect will this have on my test??

did u tell the nurse that you hadnt fasted?
let us know what your result is when it comes thru?

i didn't know u were suppose to fast before your blood test....my doctor never mentioned anything about not eating the day of your blood test

Alright I mentioned to the nurse that I accidentally had some cereal this morning and she said I needed to reschedual my blood work for tomorrow morning instead.. which I did. I just hope I make it to my derm appointment on time... I get my bloodwork done at a clinic not far from my house at 9:30 am tomorrow.. and then my derm appointment is 15 minutes away at 10:20 tomorrow... lets hope I pull this off!

i never fasted, and i never had anything wrong with my blood work. i always forgot i wasn't supposed to eat. lol.

My derm never said anything about not eating either. Mention it to your doctor because I really doubt that they will be able to have the blood work done for your appointment the same morning. It takes the lab 5 days here to process and forward results to my doctor.

Yeah its for the cholesterol part of the test. If you eat then the results arent an accurate measure of your cholesterol (kinda like taking your resting blood pressure after youve just run a marathon lol).

Yeah I know, i'll probably be a day or 2 late on getting my pills for this month.. but i'm not too worried about it. The same thing happened to me last month because the clinic I went to forgot to fax my bloodwork in and then they LOST my results and I had to get it done all over again lol. DAMNIT!

Yeah my cholesterol was high last month (236 when it should be below 200) and that was WITH fasting... I wonder how much higher it would have shown up on my tests if I did it on a full stomach...
