Well, I'm pretty sure they are just going to want to put me back on accutane, despite the fact it didn't do much for me the first time around. Is it worth going on it again if it didn't work the first time or not? I'm confused. sad.gif

Shucks man, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. sad.gif

If you can handle all the dryness for another course, I'd go for it. Lots of people take two courses. I'd do it, but I'd be bitter as hell.

Thanks for the reply, and your kind words.

Dryness wasn't really an issue for me, other than my lips. The main thing I'm worried about is the affect the first course had on my hair.. It made it really dry and brittle, and pretty much gave me bad dandruff. I'm still having these problems now, 3.5 months post accutane.

And yeh, I was very bitter at first about it not working, I've kind of got over it now. It's sad though, I don't even feel like trying anymore... I just want to give up.

I'm going now. No idea what I'm going to say when they suggest I go on accutane again. I can't decide.

She said that there was no point putting me back on accutane after the lack of success in the first course. Then she looked at my face with a magnifying glass eusa_think.gif and said I have a lot of something (can't remember what she said) and that I should try micocycline, so prescribed me that.

Started on 30mg for first month, then 40mg for 2 months, then 60mg for last 3 months.

I weighed 60kg at the time (gained weight since), so I got an appropriate dosage.

Thanks for sharing. From what I've heard from people on accutance, accutane can work better in conjunction with something else u need to do. Since Accutane isn't a magic pill to end acne all together, and it's purpose is to help reduce pores and limit Oil production... we will need to continue to figure out the regime that works for you.

I'm like you... accutane wasn't a success for me the first go. I just started another course, as I really have tried everything else. Perhaps if you didn't experience dryness, your dose wasn't high enough? I was on only 20/40 mg my first time around, at around 130 pounds (about 59 KG). This course, they have upped me to 60mg, and possibly higher. Maybe you could try again, on a higher dose?

Also, did you use a generic version? One derm I went to, albeit I was not very impressed with her, and she didnt seem to know her stuff too well, said she had had better results on the (Ro)accutane brand as opposed to the off brands.

Just my two cents, good luck.

Well, my lips were very dry, just my face wasn't for some reason unknown to me. I don't think the dose was too low, as I was on 60mg (1mg/kg) for the last 3 months, and my cumulative dose was well into what it should be.

Yeh, I've heard about roaccutane working better than generics, but I was taking roaccutane anyway.
