hey, is it true u must be referred by a family doctor to go to a derm? how long does it take? how is it that i was given meds by a family doctor and i didnt get a referel to a derm?

I got a referral from a walk-in clinic and sorry to say but it took me from the walk-in in october 2006 to the derm appointment in early june of this year.
Family doctor might be faster, but I don't personally know.

It all depends on who your doctor is, and how fast the insurance you are with is.
I was referred to a dermatologist by my family doctor and that took about 3 days. What took a long time, maybe about a month, was actually getting in to see the dermatologist, for he is a busy man because he is so good at what he does!
It all just depends upon the two factors aforementioned.

I was refered by my family doctor, i went to see him once about me acne. He put me on minocin and then sent a referal to a dermantologist right away. I was notified a week later from the family doctor that I had an appointment in a month with the dermatologist

YEa I got a referral from a family doctor aswell took like 3-4 months just to see my dermatologists as shes the only one for all of Northern Ontario
