I'm not sure what you really are asking, but when I was on accutane I was on 40mgs for the first 2 months and then 50mgs for the final three months. I'm 5'2 and weight 108lbs. I was clear within several weeks of starting treatment, and I have been off for about 2 and a half months now and still pretty clear.

some people have been put on like 20 mg for a year or something, just seeing if that is true

I was on it for 11 months on a dose from 40-60mgs on avg, im 6ft and weigh 75kgs, so it is a low dose for someone of my statue. These kind of doses generally reduce side effects and the possibility of long term problems and are just as effective as going on a high dose, plus the chances of the acne comin back is less. Thats only the assumptions I have made based on my experience, what my derm has said, and what i have read on here about other peoples experiences.

I'm thinking about going on a low dose myself, too. I have an appointment with a derm on Aug. 30th. My acne is mild, but I am sick of it because it is persistent and nothing seems to make me totally clear.
It will be my second round of Accutane. First time, about 8 years ago, I was on a normal dose and my acne was severe.
I hope I have no problems getting it from my derm.
