Hi All. I am starting accutane in a few weeks. I wear contacts and know that my eyes are most likely going to get very dry. Does anyone have a good suggestion for eye drops for contact wearers? I have renu rewetting drops. I am also looking for a suggestion for eye drops for when I am not wearing my contacts. I am a little concerned because I have heard that your eyes can become dependent on eye drops etc. Not sure if that is true or not. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions for eye drops for when contacts are in and when they aren't that would be great. Thanks!

My eyes just got a little dry near the end of treatment. I just used my regular solution as eyedrops. Worked fine for me.

At night I used Lacrilube; it's an ointment so it's thick, but it does the job. Don't put it in while using contacts.

There's also a good chance your eyes will get too dry to wear contacts at all, so make sure you have working glasses as well (I didn't)

Hi -
Yes, re-wet your eyes/contacts often. Your eyes may not seem "real" dry but can be. You don't want to get eye irrations or problems. I use Allergan rewetting drops during the day (few times) and use Systane eye drops at night after I take off my contacts. I've had no problems. My eyes are tired and I look somewhat "stoned" but that's about it. I'm on my 4th month of 20mg (low dose). Good news, my face hasn't had acne since month two, but my acne was mild.
Good luck.
