I'm going to start Accutane soon, and my only worry is how it will affect my working out. I've heard things about muscle/joint pains, and if it impairs my lifting I just won't do it. I guess I can try it out and at the first sign of pain I'll stop. Does anyone here work out while on Accutane?
Thanks
Will my weightlifting be affected in any way by Accutane?

I have been on accutane for about 3 weeks, and have been lifting for two years. This is my second course of accutane, during the first course, which was about 3 years ago, I don't recall any sort of muscle/ joint pains. At the time though, I wasn't lifting, however, I was playing soccer and tennis year round.
As I said, I've only been on accutane for about 3 weeks, but I have noticed that I have some mild back pains and knee pains. I also feel like it may take me a little longer to recover from my workouts, I feel general soreness for longer.
That being said, its nothing I can't handle. I don't think it is hindering my workouts, I can't workout as often as I'd like, but I haven't seen a drop in my performance persay. I wouldn't want to scare you away from tane. It affects everyone differently. I suggest giving it a whirl, and seeing how it affects you.
And if it does stop you from lifting to the potential you'd like, you just have to weigh your options. Which is more important to you, clearing your acne, or your body appearance/ athletic performance. Tough call.
P.S- I just finished a marathon of Arrested Development... so sad it is gone...

As ive told many on this board my main concern befor starting tane was also about weightlifting. Its about the only thing in life right now that gives me happiness and i dont know where i would be without it. Im closing in on finishing 4 months. Anyway Ive gotten bigger and stronger then ever befor since on accutane. not that the drug has helped in anyway but it hasnt caused to much trouble besides sore joints wich im battling with lots of efa's. Anyway if your already in good shape you most likely wont have trouble.

Yeah I used to work out alot before accutane and then stopped for a while because I was feeling pain in my joints but I just started working out again about a month ago and I've started to feel alot better. I was feeling weak towards the beginning of my accutane course but working out has made me feel better and stay positive which has helped me with my course. I do get sore more easily now but it's worth it.

MOST LIKELY. JOINT ACHES. DEPENDS ON UR DOSAGE, ALSO HOW BAD/GOOD IT AFFECTS UR BODY, WE'RE ALL DIFFERENT. I STARTED GETTIN VERY BAD JOINT ACHES ALMOST AT THE END OF MY 3RD MONTH. I GET THEM SOMETIMES, SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS.
