I'm on month 4 of a 5-month accutane course, and while my face has improved, it is no way near good.
Is this scarring or just red marks?

Once again, excuse the quality. I only own a camera-phone.

Don't be too harsh. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Thanks. sad.gif

PS: I've been using aloe vera for a few days to reduce the redness, but so far, nothing. Is it normal that it makes my eyes water?

Hey.
I'm pretty sure those are scars. The redness should go away in a few years, but you probably will be left with them. However, keep in mind that accutane makes your skin extremely sensitive and fragile, so they will probably raise by about 40% after you are done your course. smile.gif Stay positive! Be thankful that you have no more active acne.

it's probably some scarring and some red marks...I'm sure some of it will fade, but ask your derm about treatments for scarring

I see no scarring at all. I see a LOT of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or 'red marks'. They will eventually fade away mostly on their own, but the accutane may prolong the fading. They may fade after you finish your course. Aloe vera is ok for red marks, but it can cause a sensitivity in some people. Some of those look like they may itch. If they do, try not to use the aloe. If it makes your eyes water, that's one indication you should not be using aloe.

Significant moisturizing, even try emu oil or jojoba oil...those will help your skin heal up nicely.

I am gonna be honest, there may be some atrophic scaring there, but as Wynne says, there is also alot of inflamation/pigmentation.
Your skin WILL improve dramatically after you finish your course, in terms of texture/tone, and if they are atrophic (indented) as someone has already said they will fill in alot after you finish tane..I also recommend you use some emu oil on them..best of luck and atleast you should be free of your acne for a good while!!

Thanks a lot for the replies! I'm happy that not all of it is scars.
They don't itch, and the texture isn't too bad, so I also think they're red marks. smile.gif

Even for other parts of my body? or just my face?

I'll check out emu oil.
Thanks again. You guys are so helpful. biggrin.gif

If the aloe bothers any other part of your body, don't use it there. It's overall a very gentle treatment and probably won't irritate the rest of your body.
