Not sure man, there is about a 80-85% success rate of you being permentaly cleared if the first course has done its job properly, ie/ you're not taken off before you are cleared. I'm 19 and finished about 2 weeks ago, so i can let you know in the weeks and months ahead if you're still interested by then.

Mine said about 80%; maybe thats just the ratio that he has had. My course was long (11 months) on a low to moderate dosage (40-60mg), and this is what he does for most patients, so maybe that is the best way of doing it. Not sure though.

Yes, my roaccutane pamphlet says that the younger you are when you take roaccutane, the more likely you will need a second course after some time. That's why doctors normally recommend accutane to older teenagers or adults.

Quite good man; the red marks have faded alot, and im talking within a few days I say a reduction. The facial redness and dryness has also dropped off a bit, but it is still there, along with the off skin tone. Derm said all that should go within a few months, so hopefulyl by the end of the year it will all look normal again.

My acne was also moderate to severe, some areas were quite bad and stubborn (cystic) on my right cheek, other areas not so bad, i also had some on my back and chest.

I'd do accutane later for several reasons

The side effects (I have read on the net that large doses of vitamin A in children can cause growth retardation, not to mention the other side effects that you may get that you don't want early on in your life) and
You may grow out of it (When you hit 30 and you still have acne you can then assume that you are not going to grow out of it)

I took 20 mg a day on my first course and have started on my second course now.

I took accutane when i was 14.......had 6 years of beautiful clear skin that i took for granted tongue.gif. Im 22 now and acne has come back slightly, but no where near as bad as it was 7 years ago. Im about to start accutane again so fingers crossed it should clear it for at least another 7 years (im hoping forever lol).

Not sure whether youre male or female but it might pay to have your testosterone levels tested (if youre a female...not sure if they play a part in male acne).

Azrael. out of curiosity did your doc have your hormone levels tested? its just that i remember my dermatologist saying that if the acne came back relatively soon after a full course of accutane then in the majority of cases the acne is caused by other underlying problems.

yeh im a male and still 15... im planning on giving accutane a shot when im like 19 or sumthin b/c if i grow out of it before then, i wouldnt choose accutane, but if i still get persistant acne, then i think it would be my option...

At a blood testing facility, in NZ we call it medlab and you need a doctors referral. It is free over here though. Im not 100% sure about males and testosterone because you guys are supposed to have it!! but yeah, maybe you could good hormones and acne and see what you come up with. Id say even guys can have too much male hormone, especially if youre a teenager smile.gif
