I'm starting accutane today...and was wondering if I'll get breakouts from it in places where I don't already have acne...you see i have none on my face, it's all on my back and a few on my neck. Is it possible to get breakouts on places where I don't already have acne, like my face?

Hey there -
Congrats on starting Accutane. What dosage are you taking? My Derm. said the lower the dosage to start and the milder the acne, the less chances of a bad IB. Generally, the acne you have currently "flares" or become whiteheads again when you start Accutane. However, as you get into taking Accutane, whatever acne was "brewing" under your skin will be pushed out.. Blackheads will clear out and pores will be clean and face smoother.
My acne was very mild (maily my chin) and I started at 10mg a day in May. I had 3 pimples on my chin that were healing when I started, and they flared into whiteheads. After that, really no major breakouts. My face just started to clear out and smooth out. In June I started 20mg to present. I would suspect since most of your acne is on your back you will flare there and some acne will come out during the process. I wouldn't think you would get much acne coming out on your face if you really don't have breakouts there. What did your Derm. say?

Is it possible to get an IB 32 days in. MY skin is worst then ever and personally think its worst then what I thought was my IB

i never normally get spots on my chin area,. but ever since starting tane (3 weeks now) ive been getting new ones there everyday. its gross

I'm on 40mg....but i was also perscribed some kind of steroid that supposed help taking so much so soon. I'll have to ask my derm next time i see him in 3 weeks.

I should also add that its 40 mg twice a day.
