I just wanted to post my experience. I never had any acne to speak of really until age 25, then it just hit me like a bomb. I ended up going to a dermatologist, was put on minocycline and differin. After about six months, the infection was gone, but I still used differin, which is rather expensive. Lately I've just been using benzoyl peroxide and it works about 70 percent, but I still always have visible pimples on both sides of my chin, occasionally my upper lip, always at the temples and across my forehead. Any my face is always super dry from the Benzoyl Peroxide.
Plus the benzoyl constantly stains my clothes, and I'm 29, I'm really sick of having to deal with acne!!

So, five days ago, I bit the bullet, did some research on urine therapy, and decided what the heck, it'd be cheaper, and maybe my face wouldn't be so dry, since urine apparently is a good moisturizer. After five days of washing my face with facial soap at night and in the morning, and applying urine using a cotton swab three to four times a day, I have ZERO noticeable acne spots, and nothing getting ready to erupt, which has never happened before. If I had gone five days without applying BP at night, I would look like a pizza and probably wouldn't leave my house I'd be so broken out. I also haven't applied a moisturizer yet, which obviously means it works for that as well. The urine doesn't smell after you apply it to your face, it gets absorbed, I don't wash it off, and am 110% happy with the results. Just thought I'd report my results and let you decide for yourself.

Here's a more pleasant solution: use urea products.

OR:
QUOTE
There is such a thing as artificial urine, which immitates the
composition of "normal" human urine. However, it should be stated here
that "The composition of normal urine is highly variable because our
diet and level of activity are highly variable." (SOURCE: Cornell
Institute for Biology Teachers, Jan 15 2003, "Interpreting Medical
Tests: What's in Urine?",
<http://cibt.bio.cornell.edu/labs/eb/URI_0004.PDF>).

"The following reagents will be necessary for the preparation of
normal human urine (Kark, et al. 1964):

Albumin powder (egg or bovine)

Creatinine

Distilled water

Potassium chloride

Sodium chloride

Sodium phosphate (monobasic)

Urea

A class of 30 students, working in groups of two, would require a
class total of at least 1 liter of artificial urine for specific
gravity and dipstick testing. The following instruction are for the
preparation of approximately 2 liters of normal urine; half can be
stored or used for abnormal urine studies.

To 1.5 liters of distilled water add 36.4 g of urea and mix until all
the crystals are dissolved. Then add 15.0 g of sodium chloride, 9.0 g
of potassium chloride and 9.6 g of sodium phosphate; mix until the
solution is clear. Check the pH with indicator paper or a pH meter to
ensure the pH is within the 5 to 7 pH range for normal urine; if the
solution is out of this pH range the pH may be lowered with 1N
hydrochloric acid or raised with 1N sodium hydroxide.

Next, place a urine hydrometer into the solution and dilute with water
until the solution is within the specific gravity range of 1.015 to
1.025. This solution will serve as the storage stock solution of
“normal urine solution” and may be kept refrigerated for several weeks
or frozen in plastic containers for months. Before use, the stock
solution should be warmed to room temperature. Then, to ensure a
similarity to human urine, 4.0 g of creatinine and 100 mg of albumin
may be slowly mixed into the 2 liters of the so-called normal urine
solution. "
(SOURCE: Brian R. Shmaefsky, "How-To-Do-It - Artificial Urine for
Laboratory Testing", a cached version is available at:
http://209.85.129.104/search?q=cache:z7RhO...nk&cd=1>.
I suggest that you'll save it, as it might "disappear" during Google's
next crawl).

Another source offers a similar forumla:
"Synthetic urine solution2 contains 14.1 g NaCl, 2.8 g KCl, 17.3 g
urea, 1.9 mL of 25% v/v ammonia solution, 0.6 g CaCl2 and 0.43 g
MgSO4, made up to 1 L with 0.02 M HCl solution." (SOURCE: Tran T.
Nham, "Analysis of urine and seawater samples by ultrasonic
nebulization with a high resolution ICP spectrometer",
<http://www.biocompare.com/technicalarticle/1342/Analysis-Of-Urine-And-Seawater-Samples-By-Ultrasonic-Nebulization-With-A-High-Resolution-ICP-Spectrometer-from-Varian-Inc.html>).

Again, synthetic urine is the best you could get at, but it could be
not an exact double of "normal" human urine, because "normal" urine
contains variables that are different from one person to another. In
addition, "Synthetic urine is free of pyrophosphates, organic
macromolecules (matrix) and unspecified substances [...]." (SOURCE:
Bo-Bertil Lind, Zsófia Banb and Stefan Bydén, "Nutrient recovery from
human urine by struvite crystallization with ammonia adsorption on
zeolite and wollastonite", Bioresource Technology
Volume 73, Issue 2 , June 2000, Pages 169-174).

Synthetic/artificial urine is indeed being used in therapy, as you can
see in the following article:
Mayrovitz, Harvey N, Sims, Nancy, "Biophysical effects of water and
synthetic urine on skin" Advances in Skin & Wound Care, Nov/Dec 2001
<http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3977/is_200111/ai_n9017455>

Also see:
Martha M. Christy, "URINE THERAPY A Natural Alternative That Works" ,
Extracted from Nexus Magazine, Volume 3, #2 (February-March 1996).,
<http://www.nexusmagazine.com/articles/urine.html>

However, it might be a problem to convince those who believe in urine
therapy to buy a synthetic product instead of their own (free)
"products". But that is already a problem of marketing and beyond the
scope of this question.

In addition, it is claimed that the therapeutic characteristics of
urine are mostly due to urea, and urea is already produced
synthetically and is part of several ("conventional") drugs. See for
example Wikipedia:
Urea, <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urea>

Also see:
H. Kirchmann and S. Pettersson, "Human urine - Chemical composition
and fertilizer use efficiency", Nutrient Cycling in Agroecosystems,
Volume 40, Number 2 / January, 1994 . available for subscribers (in
libraries, academic institutions, etc.) and for a fee ($30) at:
http://www.springerlink.com/content/km386u...ine%20sample%22
Abstract:
"Stored human urine had pH values of 8.9 and was composed of eight
main ionic species (> 0.1 meq L–1), the cations Na, K, NH4, Ca and the
anions, Cl, SO4, PO4 and HCO3. Nitrogen was mainly (> 90%) present as
ammoniacal N, with ammonium bicarbonate being the dominant compound.
Urea and urate decomposed during storage."

I hope this answers your question. Please contact me if you need any
clarification on this answer.

I posted here because I actually did some of my research on this site, and I'm a results girl, I wouldn't be a member here for a few years and still be whining about acne. I did some research, found out something that works well, and thought I'd share it. Eww and gross responses are so original and creative, and really helpful too, I imagine no one every thought, "gosh that's gross, I'd never do that"...oh wait that's everyone's initial reaction, including mine. If its not your thing, that's cool, but maybe keep the ignorant comments to yourself, it might work for someone else who has tried other things to no avail. Google urotherapy, get a little education about a very widespread homeopathic practice, and give it a try if you want, move along if you don't.

I'm glad you found something that works for you, but you have to admit that the thought of putting urine on one's skin DID turn you off at first, too, ok?

I'm skeptical becaue your hair is basically made out of urine. And if thats on your face it can lead to Acne. Hmm

Look its easy to get the grossed out impulse. Just because I can get over it to save a couple thousand a year doesn't mean I don't think, yuck! But I'm also quite intelligent so, I did alot of research and urine is actually sterile, if you google what urine actually consists of, it makes sense. Its filled with lots of vitamins and nutrients. Why it works, I still don't know, I just know, for the first time since I was 25, I haven't applied something that burns, dries out my skin, makes me itch, or costs tons of money, and still I'm acne free.

I agree, they shouldn't be so rude. So do u like pee in a cup and then use a cotton ball or what? How long did it take to work?

Hair does not have urine in it. I just took an anatomy and physiology class.

I've been doing it for five days now, instead of morning/evening cleansing, moisturizing and application of benzoyl peroxide. My acne is not that terrible anymore, so I can't say how well it works if you need antibiotic treatment, but if you are just on the topical stuff, I think its worth a shot. I did alot of research on websites, really tons of info, some of it rather hokey, but, for cleanliness reasons, catch it midstream, dab a cotton ball in it, and wash about 1/4 of my face and get a new one, do another 1/4...just my own idea, but I don't like to transfer bacteria from one area to another. I'm sort of obsessive so I do it about four times a day, don't know if that's necessary, or if more/less often would be better, but it seems to be keeping me clear, so I'll stick with my current regime. Some websites want you to store it for days, or dilute it/mix it with other stuff, I just wanted the easiest way, and least smelly, so no storing or diluting it for me, although it might work better.

And to the other poster...yeah, this will be my little secret, my newfound medical miracle will only be disclosed online to strangers, plus I wouldn't exactly be thrilled if I knew my sig other used this method, somethings you just don't want to know too much about smile.gif

As someone already said why not just use products containing urea, there are quite a few.

Really, this sounds more like a joke then anything else... and I'm almost positive the punch line will include something about R. Kelly
