Okay I'm only on day 6 of my first course. Well I've finished day 6. Anyway-- I can tell the drug is in my system because the dryness has started.

My question is-- has anyone else experienced chest pains? Yesterday and today every so often I will feel a tightness in my chest that will go away when I exhale. This has never happened before I started taking accutane. I don't know if this is a normal side effect or if I should be worried. Please advise smile.gif

Oh I forgot to add: I do smoke.. about a pack a day. And I also do recreational smoking. Please no lectures but that could be part of it?

hey,

i got that feeling today! i'm on day 12 of accutane.

anyway i think it's just coincidental.

there are a million factors that could cause chest pain or a tight chest, so it would need major research to see if it was caused by the accutane!

having said that, what does it say on the medication leaflet for the list of side effects?

Are you drinking sufficient water to wash the pill down? Sometimes a pill can start dissolving before it reaches the stomach if one doesn't take enough water to wash it down, and that can cause a feeling of tightness in the esophagus, or the substernal area or epigastric area, often thought of as 'chest pain.'

If it does not go away, interferes with your breathing or gets significantly worse, you'll need to contact your MD. I doubt it is related to Accutane.

If you have asthma that could be one reason for the chest tightness.

Sometimes the esophagus will also spasm...drinking fluids will help that significantly.

Yes I experinced pains in my chest from time to time, also in my lower back. It went away though. I doubt it's anything to worry about unless it wont go away after a while or gets worse.

I get a small pain sometimes when i either get up from lying down or when i take a deep breath.

I feel it near my heart.

Used to think it was from smoking sad.gif but maybe its the tane??

I get the same pain when I get up out of bed or getting off the couch.

But, when I started accutane I did get pain in my lungs whenever I took a deep breath. It went away after about a month but I made sure to tell my dermatologist about it.

exactly this.

about the "deep breath", lungs dont have sensitive nerves(pleura and bronchios does), so the pain was most probably muscular or articular smile.gif
