well, you really should call the doctor doing the levulan --- he/she should be able to tell you. i would call the place administering treatment tomorrow if you can.
otherwise... i would stop using it at least 5 days prior... that would be the smart bet.

I was going to get a Levulan PDT treatment a few months back, but never did because I was leaving for vacation into a sunny climate (have to avoid the sun afterwards) and I was using BPO. Doctor told me I should stop using any type of topical acne treatment for a week beforehand.
How many treatments did the doc say you need? And what type of skin do you have? Did he say your skin type is a good candidate? I am asian, with light olive skin, very oily and large pores.
I am still considering doing it down the road, maybe next year. My acne is under control from what is was a couple months ago, but I still want to control the breakouts and help with the dark marks, which I think the PDT and Vbeam laser can do.
Anyone know if the PDT treatment qualifies for a medical reimbursement? We have a cafeteria plan at work, and I was thinking I'd max it out next year and do the treatment. I did that for my Lasik eye procedures earlier this year.

I called the office and they said i can still use my products. which sounds odd cos with these related procedures you're supposed to stop.
They said I have to stop the products for a length of time afterwards though
I was told that the levulan would take away most of what I had and they could do touch ups(with some other type of laser) if I had left overs that were bothering me....since I wouldnt be able to do a seconed levulan.
I might just start getting peels/microdermbrasions for leftovers down the road....

Why can't you do a 2nd Levulan? My doc said he usually does a series of 4 treatments, 2 weeks apart from each other. I guess maybe it depends on the severity of the case.

ya well it's costly lol. They said they usually do a series of three or four also...but in my case she said It prolly only take one to clear a good amount of it. im assuming there WILL be left over marking...which is why i rather spend 80 dallors of peels vs. over 400$ per levulan treatments.

Yea the Levulan PDT is costly. My derm said it would be $2,200 for 4 treatments, and $3,800 total to add the Vbeam laser for marks.
My aesthetician charges $200 for peels, so that's not cheap either.
I just started trying the MaMa lotion Friday night, and am going to use it every other night and see how it goes. I haven't had any irritation so far. If my marks fade within a couple months, and it doesn't aggravate any breakouts, then I might not need the PDT.
