It sounds like it was too strong for you. I'm 43 and have very insensitive skin and the glycolic acid pad actually BURNED the first time I used it. But my skin happily grew to love it and it cleared me up.
I bought the first Avon container from an individual rep. The subsequent ones I've bought on eBay.
Follow the directions. Never use more than indicated as more won't do anything but irritate you. Particularly since you're already using two topicals.

Would you reccommend the AHA Lotion or the Souffle for night time use for Red Marks and Hyper pigmentation?
I have the AHA Lotion, but don't use it because the first few times I used it it seemed to break me out... Any suggestion?
Also, do you think alternating nightly between the AHA and ACV would be wise?

I'd pick one product or the other (of ACV or AHA). The lotion OR the Souffle should be fine for use;just check the ingredients against one of those comedogenic websites. I use the Souffle on occasion if I'm out of my stand-by product.
Do realize that there is the potential for an initial breakout with a glycolic acid product because it helps to exfoliate. For me, personally (and this is only anecdotal evidence so take it with a few tons of salt), my breakout was minimal and lasted one month. After just a few weeks though I began to see that glowing complexion that AHAs can impart.

Long quote removed for brevity's sake.
I'd like to suggest reviva labs 5% and 10% glycolic cream, and their glycolic cleanser and toner. I always had acne, and it that stuff helped me even more that retin-a (argh! I hated that stuff!) and diffren (sp?), which my derm. perscribed. Although, that was about 8 years ago..how time flies!
I use the reviva glycolic products, and I haven't gotten anymore cyctic acne. THANK GOODNESS! And, my skin looks "glowy". I get it from vitacost.com.
I second that! I love them and they last quite a while. I am using the 10% cream, and you can use it also on other parts of the body such as heels, etc. I have read others recommending not to use more than a 5% strength every day, although I used it pretty often per week and had no problems other than dryness. Now, I use it 2x a week because I am also using retinol and BP..so it can really dry my skin. I like the acid to help clear off any dry flakes. Since adding in Olay's regenerist night cream, my skin has really improved with the dryness issue.
PS I also get my reviva from vitacost! lol

HOW many times a week should I use it ? The instructions say once a week but after my first use 3 days ago, I haven't seen any improvements with my marks. I used it yesterday again.
Is it supposed to take a week's time after usage to see improvements?

What is normally recommended is to do a 30% peel 1x a week for about 6 weeks. Then take a few weeks off..then start the series over again. How long did you leave the peel on? I'm just assuming that you are new to these peels? If so, start out with only a few mins and really watch your skin. If it starts to burn or turn red neutralize immediately (a little stinging is normal). When I first started, I did 30 seconds, then a min. The one I had could be left on for a max of 4-5 mins but I never left it that long.
As far as seeing improvements, my face did not flake..it was just a gradual resurfacing. If you don't have a ton of dead skin you may not see patches after using the peel. Mine got a bit dry around the 6th day or so, but I never had any flakes..they seemed to gradually loosen and fall off on their own during normal washing, etc. Treat your skin very gently while using the peel because it is in a more irritated/fragile state and you can easily damage it. I noticed my spots drying up and disappearing by the 3rd week. They say it takes a full 6 week series to get the full benefits. You can also use it as a spot peel just for the red marks. I am not sure if you were doing a full facial or just spot treating.
If you still don't notice any improvement, your acid may be neutralizing from your skin. I don't know what instructions came with the bottle, but here are the instructions I dug out for my two previous bottles:
1. Degrease skin with an oil-free cleanser (and use one that is slightly more acidic so the soap doesn't end up neutralizing the acid when you apply it)
2. Rinse well and pat dry or air dry.
3. Gently apply product avoiding eyes, lips, mucous membranes. Do NOT rub into skin.
4. Leave on for 30-90seconds for beginners..for repeated uses leave on up to 2-3 minutes and increase 1min a week up to a max of 10 mins.
5. Neutralize with baking soda and a few drops of water. Wait 1 min then neutralize again.
6. Rinse well with plenty of lukewarm water.
7. Apply moisturizer and do not use any product with AHA for 24 hrs. Use sunscreen.
Other directions:
1. Clean skin of oil, makeup, dirt, etc. Use alcohol pads after cleansing.
2. Rinse face with cool cool water for about 60 secs after alcohol.
3. Apply product and distribute evenly.
4. You may experience slight tingling or burning. This is normal, but anything severe or actually hurting should be neutralized immediately. If any of the skin turns very red, neutralize immediately. Any inflamed areas that start to sting, you can dab some liquid soap on them with aQtip to neutralize.
5. leave on for 30-90secs for beginners and up to 3 mins total.
6. Neutralize with baking soda and water. Wash skin with cool water for about 60 sec. pat dry. Apply moisturizer every day and sunscreen.
* The skin may turn pink but will return to normal within a few days. Results vary. Skin may peel after a few days. If redness, burning or blistering are observed, seek medical help and discontinue use as this indicates possible skin damage. These symptoms occur when used incorrectly or is skin is too sensitive for peel.
*** Do not use glycolic peel if pregnant or may become pregnant. Use with caution as peels can cause chemical burns***
Use at own risk..exercise caution. I hope these instructions help! I am not a medical doctor and these are provided from instructions included with my peels as a guide.
