Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this board. I recently read about the Fraxel laser and am interested in trying it.
Some background: I had sever cystic acne in my mid-20's (tetracycline, minocycline.... you name it, I was on it.) In 2000, I took Accutane and it completely cleared my acne. I followed this with countless Microdermabrasions and most recently (past two years), a series of 9 erbium laser treatments and 9 IPL treatments.
I was very pleased with the Erbium treatments... but I'm now at the point of diminishing returns especially in the forehead area. Also for those of you who have taken Accutane, have you noticed a slow return to oiliness and increased pore size? I'm intersted in trying out new treatments because I've noticed increased pore size on my nose, upper lip and cheeks (close to my nose.)
I'm located in the north Dallas area... does anyone have personal experience/good reviews about doctors in this area? I was thinking about visiting Skintastic in Plano, TX (Dr. Jeffrey Adelglass.)
Thanks so much!
Lucy

Not sure about the doctor, but I go to school in north dallas hehe. The best advice/doctor I can name you is Dr. Tye out in Colleyville. He is an oral and maxillofacialist doctor, and next door he own this aesthetics place, which has laser light capabilites, place next door. Not sure if it has what you are looking for though.

hey lucy... I'm 22, and i've already been on accutaine twice in my life, and at other times i probably should have gotten back on it again... first time i used it i was 15, and it totally cleared up my cystic acne on my face, chest, and back.... my skin stayed alright for a year or so, still getting an occasional zit... but then around age 19 horrible cystic acne returned!!!! so i went on it again, great results... this year i've had god awfull acne, and tried doxycycline again, it took a few months to work , but it did work great and completely cleared my skin, but now i'm off of it... and some acne has returned but not as bad, and i'm now using blue light therapy everyday, so far its clearing me very well....
but i guess to answer your question, my skin has always returned to bigger pore size and oilyness after taking accutaine.... so i guess for some people its not a permanent fix:(

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies. I'll definitely keep Dr. Tye in mind though Colleyville is a bit of a hike for me (especially considering my many visits to these places.) prettyacnegirl: I hear ya. My oiliness/pores are so bad that after washing my face, I can actually see beads of oil forming on my nose/forehead/chin after 1-2 hours. When I go out, I am constantly powdering my face... in pictures, no matter what I do, my face looks like an oil slick. I have the most scars on my forehead so the oil just seems to pool there and make them look even worse. What do y'all do about this?
I'm actually contemplating Accutane again, but I don't know if I could go through it. My face turned bright red (almost purple) when I was on it before. In terms of actual pimples, I'm not getting that many although I have a ton of whiteheads on my nose upon waking up. I have a feeling this will change... as I mentioned, I tried Accutane in 2000 so maybe the great effects are slowly but steadily wearing off
