I drink a Green Smoothie:

* 2-3 servings of fruit (usually half fresh, half frozen)
* 3-4 cups of leafy greens (about 4 - 5 oz. in weight)
* About 2 cups water
* 1/2 cup vanilla soymilk (not necessary though - just adds flavor)
* 1 tbs ground flax seed
* blend ingredients together

I'll go ahead and answer, but let's continue the discussion at my green smoothie thread (click on the link in my signature) so this thread can stay on it's original course. smile.gif

They are effective for me. Back when I started the smoothies, the leafy greens in them were, sadly, about the only veggies I was eating back then! I wasn't eating junk, but I wasn't eating enough produce either. The smoothies are a big nutrient boost, because you get 4 times the amount of nutrition when you eat "blended" greens. Within 6 weeks of doing smoothies with about 3-4 cups of leafy greens every day, my acne cleared up. I had lots of little small bumps on my forehead - those went away, and I was also getting blemishes on my chin that were leaving behind scars - I usually had at least 2 at all times - now, it's rare that I get a blemish on my chin, and if I do, it's usually pretty small and goes away quickly. I tested the smoothies out about 4 different times by not doing any smoothies for at least 4 days, and each time, my acne would start to return.

Nowadays, I could probably get by without them, as I eat about 2 pounds of vegetables a day on the Eat to Live diet (which is a lot easier to do than you might think), which I'm find so easy and enjoyable to do - and I wasn't a veggie person before I started the diet!

You can learn more at my green smoothie thread, and I'd be happy to answer any green smoothie questions you might have over there. smile.gif

Half a sandwich and coffee, or milk and cereal and coffee, or leftovers. I had salad for breakfast this morning. biggrin.gif
