Hi, it went real good. I will try and remember everything they did. They cleansed her face then applied glycolic 10% to see if she was sensitive to it, which she wasn't. Then Julie did an enzyme peel (I believe it was a peel) with steam and then did some extractions. I have to admit that I could tell my daughter was a little concerned about the extractions cuz she was red and kinda chicken pox looking and some of the smaller underskin pimples were now raised and red and bigger. She kept looking in the mirror on the way home and was just real quiet. She said that the extractions didn't hurt and I could see that they were getting alot of junk out. When we got home I had her take some aleve to help with some of the inflamation. Julie said that my DD has non-inflamed acne which is harder to treat than inflamed but treatable it just takes longer cuz the pimples are so far beneath the skin. It takes them longer to come to the surface. And that my DD was pretty dehydrated which I could tell. So, today when my DD got up alot of the redness from the extractions was gone and the ones that looked bigger had gone down. She had a pretty good size pustule on her cheek when we got there yesterday and Julie poked it with a little needle and got some junk out and it was practically gone today. So, my DD was happier this morning. She said she doesn't feel as many little ones around her mouth like she use to. I have to say that I think my daughters cheeks look more hydrated and her skin tone looks a little more even today. I was going to try and take some before pics which I still will but it is so hard to get pics of the underskin ones. I have to wait till tomorrow. I just wish that the clinic was so much closer. It was one heck of a drive. Anyway, here is her regimen but it was changed a little today by Julie.
AM:
cleanse with cleansing gel sensitive
ice face for 2 minutes
glycolic toner
10% glycolic gel every other day
hydrating emulsion
oil free sunblock
PM
cleanse with cleansing gel sensitive
glycolic toner
hydrating emulsion
BP 5% on cheeks
BP 10% mouth and chin
leave on for 15 minutes then wash off
So, keep your fingers crossed that everything turns out good.

Congratulations.
It would be nice if she could clear up that fast. I know she would be ecstatic. Now she kinda can't wait for her next extractions she liked how it got rid of some of the comedones.

If you check out Laura's website you'll see that a lot of those people did experience clearing in as soon as 8 weeks. That's about the average time for a regimen to start working and showing results. Visible results, I mean, where other people say, "Wow, you're looking SO good". Good luck!
Of course, it might be longer. But glycolic acid is such a marvelous comedolytic all by itself, that I suspect she'll be thrilled in a relatively short while. I'm jealous that she gets to go there.

yeah, I was jealous too lol. I don't have skin problems but the facial looked so relaxing. I was sitting there thinking to myself that a facial is another thing to put on my things to do list when the kids move out. Along with my cruise and my major spending spree by myself lol

Don't wait for a facial! Book one for yourself for the next time your daughter has one. They must be incredibly relaxing and it would make you feel good, less stressed.

How often are you planning on bringing her back to the clinic? I would say even if she isn't totally clear by 8 wks, she will definitely see a lot of improvement in that period of time. Glad she is liking the results of the extractions. I still go in for glycolic peels and extractions once a month - don't know how I'd live without them now!!

Yes it is! Your daughter is lucky to have you. I cannot go because I do not drive, its too far, and I cannot even convince my parents to drive me to a derm that is 30 minutes away let alone a couple of hours. You live in CA right mypoordaughterhasacne?

How long did it end up taking you? I know she has a client who lived in southern California and she would fly up once a month to get treatments there! I feel so lucky to be only 15-20 min away from the clinic!

Well, for in-office clients they do an initial examination of your skin to determine what type of acne you have, if your skin is dehydrated or not, etc. They use various strengths of glycolic and mandelic acids (possibly other as well, I'm not totally sure) to test for skin sensitivity. They take into acccount everything that is assessed in the evaluation in order to recommend the appropriate products (e.g., someone with inflamed acne would have a slightly diferent regimen than someone with non-inflamed acne, someone with very sensitive skin would be recommend different products than someone who does not have sensitive skin). For long distance clients, they send you a test kit with instruction of how to use it (I don't know as much about this process, as I am a local client).
Extractions are done with an extraction tool as part of your facial treatments, which for most people are done every 2 wks in the beginning of treatment and then later reduced to once a month or so.
If you want to look at my log (its really long!) under the retinoid log section, I have been posted my experiences with this clinic over the last year.

Thanks! I read your log a bit and it does seem that your esthetitian is really good and professional. I wish Singapore has such clinics, I would definetely go there after my accutane course to maintain my skin. For now I can only rely on my dermatologist to see how it goes.

The drive was 5 hours. We go back July 10th for a follow up.
