Retin A is already very drying. You certainly dont want to use SA while you are on Retin A. SA is also very irritating and drying.

Besides Retin-A, are you using any other doctor's prescribe topicals or meds? As far as I know, doctors don't normally prescribe Retin-A alone. There are 2 kinds of Retin-A, the gel and the cream kind. The cream will make you more oily so if you are using the cream, switch. I have always used the cream kind and it always leave a film of oil every morning when I wake up. If you do have other doctor's topicals, just use those and nothing else. Gentle cleansing will do. My derm has always told me not to try anything funny on my face other then the things she gave me.

You can try using PH strips to test the PH of the products. As far as I am know, Oxy doesn't make very good products. You can also call the company and ask for the PH of their products. As LionQueen has mentioned, if they don't want to tell you the PH don't buy their products. Neutrogena and paula's choice make some very good salicylic acid products. However you don't necessarily need salicylic acid, minocycline and Retin-A are good enough for the battle of acne. I have used this combo before for about a week and it did help my acne quite a bit but had to stop the mino because I was getting headaches.
I don't know why the derm put you on Retin-A cream. It was a mistake actually to use cream on someone who has oily skin like me. My previous derm put me on it and it was my new derm who told me that cream are for people with dryer skin types or are trying to treat wrinkles. I no longer use Retin-A anymore since I am now on accutane. There should be no problem about switching from cream to gel, they are basically the same thing. However, you should consult your derm on this first, there might be a reason to why he gave you the cream type.
Last thing here, as I mentioned earlier, don't try anything funny on your face. You should be cleansing your face gently. you may apply benzoyl peroxide if you like. Again if you are unsure ask derm, I need to stress on this. DON"T EVER apply moisturizer on oily skin types, it clogs pores! My dermatologist told me not to and I didn't listen to her and I regretted not listening. Not applying moisturizer cut down my acne subtantially, I use aloe vera gel in place of moisturizer on dry patches of skin. Lastly, sunscreen is very important. Both the minocycline and Retin-A make you very sensitive to sunlight, make sure you apply loads otherwise you will get sunburnt.

The only neutrogena product with salicylic acid that is good is the healthy skin face lotion. I was flipping through a book in my derm's office and saw that it had a PH of 3.8 which is good. I seriously never use a salicylic acid product before well maybe only the st ive's apricot scrub which was terrible and from then I steered clear of salicylic products. My derm says its ok to use them as long as they are acidic. Paula's choice products are the best actually, they are all under the PH of 5 which is acidic. Many gave it good reviews as well. By the way, are your spots closed comedones or mostly inflamed ones? It they are mostly inflamed, there is no need to use salicylic acid. The minocycline will take care of it. Retin-A also has the ability to attack close comedones as well.
As you can see the neutrogena healthy skin face lotion is a moisturizer which beats the purpose of me telling you not to use moisturizer. If you do see the need to use it, use it every other day then instead of everyday. I still suggest you discuss everything with your derm first. I can tell you that I am now so afraid of using any products that I practically tell my derm everything or want to try something new. Telling the derm everything is the best decision I made because I am now zit free. Don't feel embarass about it!

It useless to buy a cleanser that has salicylic acid in it, the salicylic acid doesn't stay long enough to help so its normally useless. Also you can't be sure they are PH balanced. Never ever use medicated cleansers, they are irritating and may harm the barrier of your skin.
Since you say you have mostly inflamed spots, you can spot treat them with benzoyl peroxide. Ask you derm about this.
Yawn I got to sleep good night.
