Hey guys, I've had a full, rough beard since I was about 17 years old. Ever since I started shaving I have had acne problems. Coindence? NO!! It was the shaving itself causing the acne. Actually this condition is called Pseudofolliculitis Barbae. It is basically acne and unsightly bumps caused from shaving. I am one of those people who tried just about everything, but the problem was that I was trying to fight this problem at the wrong angle. Over a span of about 3 years, I tried tons of different acne fighting products. I was even on 3 different antibiotics, and have tried the dipping regimen, and also ACV. Some of these things worked, but only for a brief amount of time because they were meant to fight acne, not Pseudofolliculitis Barbae. After tons of research, I think I have found the solution. Priority number one is to get the remington es-1000 electric razor. It is the ONLY shaver on the market designed to NOT give you an extremely close shave. It shaves at skin level rather than below it. Shaving with this razor using light pressure will give you almost immediate results. The bumps and ingrown hairs you have at the time will not be irritated by shaving, and the amount of bumps and ingrowns you get will greatly reduce to almost none. What a relief! Priority number two is to get nivea for men extra gentle face wash. It is the best wash I have ever used because it does what its suppose to do(clean) and does not dry out the skin because it is very gentle. I use it twice a day, once before I shave in the morning and then at night after I shower. I have been doing this for about a month now and my skin is looking the best it has in about a year or so. I am going to pick up some nivea for men sensitive after shave balm to protect my skin during the day after I shave. I strongly recommend trying these things out. I have been as prone to shaving bumps and ingrown hairs as anybody, so if this is working for me, then you should definitely give it a shot. By the way, no I do not work for remington or nivea!! Yup shaving plays a big role in causing acne. I found a HUGE forum board completely about shaving that has a lot of good advice. It can be found at www.shavemyface.com.

this is the key problem i find with shaving and skin

if you shave with very gentle pressure and only a few strokes you get a very crappy and uneven shave no matter the razor (5 blades or one)

if you apply significant pressure and several strokes on each area you get a decently close and even shave but you get red bumps or whiteheads that last a few days

so i say screw it and let my beard grow for months

brl, I'm curious. You said you have pretty full rough beard, so how does the remington work in regard to appearance? Does it give any kind of close shave or does it leave a lot of stubble?
