Hello. I haven't been to this site in ages, I forget how great it is eusa_angel.gif

I basically had a few break outs during my Junior year in High School, but then for a large amount of my Senior year...and that's when I would say I had mild/moderate acne. I would get somewhat large, painful red bumps on my cheeks which took forever to go away, and when they did, they left nasty red marks. Sometimes I would get pustules on my chin, smaller ones however, and larger ones (or those huge red ones) on my forehead. I have been using Proactiv for a little over a year (not as religiously as I used to) and it cleared me up a lot. (I'm now going to be a sophomore in University.) I basically am left with fading red marks and small break outs which I can deal with.

However, about three days ago I noticed two pimples near my right eye, a small one about an inch below and a larger one which would be sort of "between" my cheek and jawline. Anyway, today is day three and despite normal treatments, it looks like these bad boys just want to stay put. The small one I can deal with, but the larger one is very painful and very red. Neither of them have heads, and I wouldn't pop them if they did.

Sooo...it's Saturday night and I have plans. I know they can't possibly disappear by tonight, but I would like to shrink them considerably or get rid of a lot of redness so that my make-up does the rest. (I always wear my hair down too so that should help in covering them.) I already put some drops of Visine on them, and some redness has gone away, but not much. Should I ice them, and for how long? Or should I just apply some BP every hour? I've done that before and pimples have actually dried up within half a day, but this particular one is nasty.

Thanks to all who reply!

Hello wavey.gif What I do is I use a pack of frozen vegetables, wrap it in a couple of paper towels and put that on my pimples. I use as a compress for about five minutes. It works pretty well. I also ordered dans bp yesterday. Have you considered going on dans regimen? That might help the redness

Yeah I thought it would be best to use a cold compress, but my Mom says I should use a hot one. So...I'm confused!

I put on some of the Proactiv Refining Mask and will take it off within 15-20 minutes (I mixed it with water, usually spot treat is just without water) and that usually helps. And then I'll try the frozen veggies.

No a hot one will make it throb. I think cold is better. Ive had acne for ten years. Listen to me biggrin.gif Washing your face with warm water four times a day might also help

I was just looking through your profile. You are four years and one day younger than me lol

Lol, cool. And thanks for your help!

I am actually about to swim in my pool. The chlorine usually does wonders for my face and dries up pimples. I hope an hour or two will make them disappear =D

I agree with Molly on using the ice rather than a warm compress. For immediate fixes (reduction in swelling and redness), ice is better. Just be careful not to freeze your skin. Leave the ice on for a few minutes at a time - you could probably do that a couple times today, but just a few minutes each time. And rub an icecube over your face after you wash it tonight (if you wash it before you go out, that is). It will help reduce the redness and swelling of the pimples and may also help your skin feel and appear smoother, and make your foundation go on better (does for me anyways!)

A warm compress is good for bringing pimples to a head faster, but that will probably make them look worse before they start to get better.

Thanks for the advice!

The pimple has gone down a lot, but it is still very painful and I can't even see a head forming. Oh well...thank goodness for make-up!
