Doing that several times a day for a while might help it to come to a head. Plus it feels soothing. It also mobilizes circulation and could help the pimple out a bit.
If then you must pop it, please be sure to follow Dan's recommendation for popping it: How to pop a pimple

Sorry Molly! Applying ice tonight might be a good idea, and maybe some neosporin cream.

Aleve will work, too. It's naproxen sodium. And only occasional usage is unlikely to cause GI bleeding.
Ice will also give you some quick immediate relief from the swelling and pain. Less so for swelling, but it will help a bit after your first icing session.
Wrap the ice in a paper towel or thin cloth towel and put it on the spots for five minutes on, five minutes off. You can leave it on for less than five particularly if it is uncomfortably cold. I think I tolerated about 2 minutes of cold, rested it for a bit, then put it on again. Do that for 20 minutes: ice on, ice off. Three or so times a day and it will feel a lot better and begin to look better.

Oh okay! I shall listen to the words of an RN (my mom is also an RN hehehe) My face is a little bit better tonight. I used a pack of frozen vegetables wrapped in a couple of paper towels and used that on my face. I washed my face, put my evoclin on, and put on some clean & clear persa gel. The persa gel is so so. I am looking foward to getting dans bp. I ordered it today! I live near SF so it probably wont take very long to get here

It's pronounced 'Ihtiol' and it's the wonder medicine that helped me for 2 years of my life when I had ENORMOUS (NO exaggeraton) furuncles. It literally sucks the pus from deep within the damaged area and forms a white head. A smart thing to do is let to let it suck up all the pus.
The medicine is in the shape of a black-coloured cream and is applied locally on the pimple and just a little bir around it.
Sometimes, if the abnormality is bigger, you can actually feel the goo coming out and forming a head.
