I'm 14 years old, about to be 15. My first sign of acne probably came around the 6th grade. Every once in a while I would get whiteheads near the top of my forehead-- nothing noticeable, nothing I really cared much about. My acne got a little worse through the 7th and 8th grades, more pimples on my forehead, but rarely anywhere else and no more than a few at a time. Then, in the summer between 8th and 9th grade, my acne got worse. It would still have been considered mild, but my forehead developed blackheads and small bumps under the skin appeared. Closed comedones to be sure. A little into my 9th grade year, I started shaving the area a moustache had started. A little while after that, I started having small red pimples in that area. I'm almost certain there's a correlation between my shaving and the introduction of acne, but I've tried stopping shaving and it doesn't make a difference anymore. Later in that year, I started getting pimples on my chin. I had only had one or two there before, but now there was a fair concentration then. Pimples then began to appear along my jawline. Finally, toward the end of the 9th grade year, I started to develop pimples in the areas to the left and the right of my lips.
That's my current situation. For further clarification, my acne would still be classified as mild and non-inflammatory. I went on ProActiv, helped for a while, but stopped helping after a few months and I quit. Tried the regimen, never did much for me. Tried Differin, not much help. I've been using Paula's Choice 2% BHA, which makes my skin LOOK nice, but doesn't seem to be helping my pimples much.
I just want general advice. What would you suggest I try?

How long were you on differin/BHA? Differin takes forever to start working, but it's worth it
You could try taking some supplements and try to solve whats missing in your body, things like zinc, and fish-oil, just search for them and you'll find plenty of information. Also, what's your diet like? Lots of carbs and sugar might be contributing to your acne.

I've been using BHA consistently for the past couple of months. Differin I also tried for a couple of months. I usually make sure I try things for a least two months before giving up. I'm fairly patient, which I hope helps in the long run.

Actually what I'm doing now (if you still have Differin) is using both at the same time which works amazingly, just put on the BHA then the Differin, only do this at night though. Differin took 5 months to work for me and works even better with the BHA.

I'll definitely give that a shot. I have plenty of differin left over.
