I have been on Accutane 3 times, but my acne just won't go away!
I have used basically every oral antibiotic and topical with little to no results,
so I want to know what I should try next.
I have mostly inflammatory acne, ranging from mild to moderate (mostly moderate I think) on my chin, jawline, and I usually have 1-3 medium red bumps on the side of my face. Occasionally I will get a spot or two on my forehead. I have pretty sensitive combination skin.
I was thinking about Paula's Choice BHAs or maybe the DKR, but I'm a little hesitant about the DKR since I have heard bad things about BP's long term effects.
What do you guys recommend?
What to use for my acne?

(Sorry for the crappy picture quality, my spots are definitely more red in real life!)

I wish I could help you with treatment I can't even find one for my daughter that's why I am taking het to an eshetician. Sorry I couldn't be much help

I think my acne definitely has something to do with hormones... although I've been on birth control for almost 2 years, and it hasn't changed a thing.
Before accutane I had more acne on my cheeks and forehead, but I rarely break out in those places anymore. Now it's more concentrated on my chin, and jaw area with a few on the side of my face.
I hope you can find something that will work for your daughter, I know how tough acne can be on a teenager! So Goodluck : )

Hi eisley.
It might help if you were to ask your doc about spironolactone. It's a potassium-sparing diuretic used for hypertension, but it also helps with hormonal acne. Glucophage (a medication for helping reduce blood sugar) has also been shown to help with hormonal acne.

your acne isn't that bad. Just wash your face with neutrogena.

neutrogena does nothing for my skin. if anything it makes it worse. my acne is just too stubborn.
thanks anyway!
Hey Eisley!
I am in the same boat...my face looks like yours does.
It's nothing horrible, but it just wont go away for any length of time.
I started using Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque with 5 Aspirin tablets mixed in. It seemed like such a cheap remedy it wouldnt do much, but it is actually doing a great job.
Almost close to the results I got with Doxycycline.
Hope it works for you....if you try it. If you find anything great, let me know!

I second the Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask. One of its active ingredients is sulfur. Sulfur really helps with inflammatory acne, and the whole mask just seems to help with blackheads. I only use it once a week.
Paula's Choice: I've JUST started using it. I'll be applying my second treatment tonight. There are rave reviews about it. It appears that your acne is the type that would benefit greatly from the PC 2% BHAs.
If you're female, definitely consider going to the MD for spironolactone as many people with jawline and chin acne have it due to hormones. If you're female, you might also consider using naproxen sodium or ibuprofen twice a day during your hormonal breakout (whenever in the cycle that occurs for you).
If you're male or female, you could consider Omega 3s. A lot of people say their acne has decreased with Omega 3s added to their diets.
