Okay this is really embarrassing for me to talk about but it's something that bothers me a lot. Near the base of my penis I have small bumps and I used to think they were just hair follicles but if I squeeze them I can kind of pop them like pimples. I really want to get rid of them because it's the one thing I'm nervous about for having sexual relations with my gf. I know it sounds crazy but would using regular acne wash products and benzoyl peroxide down there help?

..i think so.. just be gentle w the bp or wash since your skin down there is more sensitive.. do you trim or shave at all? you dont want a jungle down there.. goodluck man..

If you have skin colored bumps towards the base of your penis, it is nothing to worry about. It is just hair follicles and is not gonna improve if you start applying bp and different things there and pretty much every guy has them to some extent. If they are inflamed, then it might not be just hair follicles and it might be worth going to the doctor.

Well I don't think they are because some are kinda red and I can squeeze them and white stuff comes out.

The hair follicles and pores in the genital region can get clogged up just like they can anywhere else. It is not always a sign of an STD. If you have many inflamed areas that are painful, it wouldn't hurt to be examined by a doctor. Even if they aren't inflamed, you could go to a doctor and he/she could suggest something for you that might work.

Some people find that GENTLE exfoliation will help, even in that region! Clogged pores are clogged pores. The problem is that the bacteria in that region are different than facial bacteria, plus the skin is so sensitive there that one little inflamed lump can be extremely painful.

I wouldn't use a harsh wash in the genital region. It might be okay to apply a tiny amount of BP spot treatment only to the inflamed areas and be very careful to avoid the shaft of the penis. Or apply a tiny dab of polysporin or bacitracin to the inflamed areas. Don't pick an inflamed lesion as that can actually severely aggravate an inflamed lesion and cause the adjacent lymph node to swell. Applying a warm compress to the inflamed areas helps (three times a day), or sitting in a warm bath.

its common for most males to have a certain degree of folliculitis on their balls and base of penis. if it gets bad you need an anti-biotic.

I agree with what Wynne said. Exfoliation is what a lot of people do when they shave down there to prevent ingrown hairs, and people say it works well. Personally, I use is salycic acid Stridex pads after I shave, and it keeps red bumps from coming up. Maybe it could help you.

I'm a dude and I like to keep tidy down there. Sometimes a day or so after shaving I'll get a few bumps that look like zits w/ a whitehead and everything. They only chill there for a day or two...is it razor burn or acne?
