What is the best way to treat inflamed acne?
About once a month I get little inflamed pink/red bumps on my chin, and a a couple medium sized inflamed pink/red bumps on my jawline or the side of my face. Sometimes I will get tiny spots on my nose too. Many of the bumps on my face eventually come to a head (although I never pop them).. and the marks/bumps seem to take forever to go away!
What is the best way to treat this type of acne?!
I've been looking into Paula's Choice BHAs, and Green Cream, but I'm basically at a loss here.
Suggestions??

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say those break outs are probably . related, am I right?
try taking naxoprofen (aleve) two days before the beggining of your . and continue through the duration, its an anti-inflammatory and will help reduce the onset of those flare ups. Personally I <3 them, you just cannot take them for extended periods of time or it'll mess up your gastrointestinal tract (yikes)
oh and for the treatment of the inflamed ones you have now, I swear by hydrocortisone (corstisone 10 w/ aloe is my fave) you just spot treat after applying your moisturizer @ night (sometimes I cover them with bandaids too just to be sure the medicine doesnt rub off in my sleep) and wash off in the morning. When you go to a derm they inject those inflamed pimples with that very same steriod, this is just a milder OTC version. Others say that honey w. a bandaid overnight helps too but I have had better luck with the cortisone.
hint: do not get the ointment! only the cream

Well, they are definitely hormonal, but I'm not sure if they are . related because they don't always occur at the same time of month. Normally my skin is at it's clearest right before my period and during it. I tend to break out like a week after it has stopped. Is that weird? I'm also on Yasmin BC, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I have tried the Aleve thing before, but I'm not sure when I should take it because I don't normally break out during my period. Any suggestions? Maybe I'll just start taking it towards the end of my period, since I seem to break out about a week after it has stopped.
I think I might try the hydrocortisone, too. Could you tell me a little more about what that does? My skin is just so sensitive, so I'm always scared to put things on my face : )
I was also thinking about putting tea tree oil on my spots... ever tried it?
Thanks for your help!!

Breakouts usually occur a week prior to your period, not necessarily during or after.
Have you tried taking BC for a month to examine what happens?

I've been on Yasmin BC for a year and a half... it hasn't really done much for my acne.

To answer your question about hydrocortisone, its just an anti-itch/anti-inflammatory cream usually used for bites, burns, sores, etc. Works for acne tho

Ice cold cider vinegar really helps red bumpy, swollen skin from insect bites, rashes and allergies. It could be worth trying, but it may sting slightly so maybe its better to water it down first

Is there anything I can put on my skin to prevent this problem, instead of just spot treating?
I am looking for something to smooth out my little forehead bumps, get rid of a few inflamed pimples, and clear the clogged pores on my nose.
Anything?
