Okay, so within the past two months I've had such progress with Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid, I've decided to post some pics for everyone to see. So, here goes.

Here's the before pics. I had mostly comedonial acne; it's kind of hard to see it in the pictures, but trust me when I say my forehead was BUMP CITY. Also, my chin kept breaking out and my cheeks were full of bumps. You can click these to see the full size images.

So here's me now. My skin tone is much smoother and more even, and it's sooo soft! In these pics, I'm only wearing a LIGHT dusting of powder and mascara. I'm not red in the face - it's just the lighting in the room for some reason. Notice that I have acne.org on my computer screen... lol

Plus, my breakouts are much less frequent, and my blackheads are coming out much more easily, and they're staying gone. So I have to give Paula's Choice a glowing review... I'm impressed!

You look great!

I just got Paula's 2% BHA liquid, and like it so far.

Got questions for you: How do you apply the liquid? Do you moisturize following the liquid? If so, with what?

Aww, thanks you guys! I'm really happy with my results. I know my acne wasn't too bad before, but it fluctuated between tons of bumps and some larger zits. So I'm really happy now!

What I have done with my BHA is after washing my face, I just put about a dime sized amount onto the palm of my hands (which I have also just washed), then I rub my hands together really quick and quickly smooth it over my whole face. At first I had some trouble and made a little bit of a mess, but since I've been practicing, it's much easier. I apply my BHA twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, and I let it absorb into my skin for at least 30 minutes before adding any other products.

Lately I've been following it up with 100% aloe vera gel in the mornings as a moisturizer, and at night with Aveeno Ultra Calming Moisturizer (no SPF). I also use dabs of Sudocreme on red areas, and I think that's been helping.

You look great! Your cheeks in the before look kind of like how mine look. I usually get more active, inflammatory acne on my chin then you too. I've been using Paula's Choice BHA for about 2 months now and it's still working the gunk out. Hopefully soon my face will look as even and smooth as yours does! Congrats!!

I've been using it for two weeks now and this stuff makes my clogged pores a lot easier to extract. Some times while I'm washing my face or exfoliating the trapped sebum will come out. Is that a good sign the BHA is working its magic?

Aww, thanks again, everybody. I'm just so relieved to know that something out there actually works on closed comedones!

I take that as a good sign. When I first started, I did notice a bit of a purge. It wasn't all at once, but maybe for the first month I had a lot of sebum coming out. Also, as I've noticed "loose-looking" (raised) blackheads, I've been gently extracting them with my fingers. I just give them a gentle nudge, and more often than not they just slide right out... And they don't come back! It's awesome.

My closed comedones started doing the same thing. They'd come to the surface and it would look like a little piece of hard plastic was somehow stuck in my forehead, lol. So I'd gently (VERY gently) use my clean fingers to squeeze these, and a lot of the time they'd slide right out. No redness, no irritation... Just gone. It is amazing.

aww your face looks so great!

The sides of your face look like mine, with the few red inflamed looking bumps.
Did Paula's BHA get rid of those as well? I am seriously considering buying this stuff!

thanks : )

Eisley, I think that Paula's BHA has helped a lot with my inflamed acne, but it didn't go away completely. If I get a really inflamed zit, I still put BP on it, but now I only use it for spot treating the inflamed ones. That seems to work well for me.

Thanks for the reply! That is exactly what I wanted to know biggrin.gif

What kind/brand of BP do you use?

I actually use Dan's BP gel, but like I said, I only use it to spot treat my red, inflamed zits. Most people on this board don't like using a BP and BHA combination because it can be irritating to use that combination on your whole face. If you're going to try using both, I would strongly recommend making sure that your face is used to the BHA and is not flaking at all before you use any amount of the BP. When I get an inflamed zit, I will avoid using BHA on it and will use a dab of BP directly on the zit instead. This usually helps to kill the zit within 3 or 4 days, after which I'll stop using the BP and will use BHA all over my entire face once again.

Shayy, the BHA that we're talking about in this thread is Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid. BHA is also called salicylic acid. You can click here to see the product.

Lorrie was kind enough to make a huge post that tells all about what BHAs and AHAs can do for acne prone skin. Click here to read Lorrie's post. She did a great job and I don't think I could possibly do any better. smile.gif
