If you're allergic to salicylic acid, you're probably also allergic to aspirin. Have you ever had a bad reaction to taking aspirin?

If you are allergic to SA and you put it on your face, your face will turn very red, and probably burn, and if it is really bad it will swell up. Or if it is a mild allergic reaction it might cause contact dermatitis, and it will be hard to distinguish between the normal drying effects of SA and the contact dermatitis.
