Um, on Saturday, I'm getting ProActiv. And yeah, before you start, I've already read a shitload of stories from people that have used ProActiv, the majority of them being filled with such things as "OMGZ, PROACTIV RUINED MY LIFE". Thus, I've come across stories claiming that ProActiv works, but then starts going downhill a bit later.

So, I was wondering, if I were to use ProActiv, and achieved good results quickly, could I get away with discontinuing use, and switching to something else? Or will my skin just like, screw up and return to its previous state, or get even worse for that matter if I do such a quick switch? Keep in mind, I only have very mild acne.

..keeping your skin clear and healthy is a lifetime thing..
as far as the proactiv regimen, just make sure to moisturize as well cos it can dry your skin.. and always wear sunscreen even on cloudy days.. goodluck mate..

When i 1st ordered proactiv i stumbled upon the .org and i read the reviews. I was so upset coz everyone said it was crap and didn't work and i had just signed up for it.
Now i have always had cystic acne, big red painful spots since i was into my teens. It was pretty bad when i started using proactiv and i would just like to say from the 1st time i used the renewing cleanser i was in love. It makes your skin feel so smooth and clean. I loved it. Gradually my skin got better and better and i did not get a spot for a year and a half! Amazing stuff no matter what people say. Smooth clear skin!!!
Now, there is a downside, it does stop working! It stopped for me after about a year and i started getting the odd cyst here and there. Nothing major but people do suggest that every so often, take a week off of proactiv. Use somethin different, maybe a non medicated cleanser and your proactiv BP (altho you will not need it!) like Dans Regimen! Then i'm sure the effects will last.
I wish i had taken that advice but i was scared to come off it for a week, then my m/ship stopped and so did my shipment. So i've been off it for about 10 months and my skin is terrible, cysts everywhere! Have been on Dans Regimen for a month and a bit now and my skin is just getting worse. Nothing like what proactiv did for me!
I did not use a moisturiser with proactiv as i didn't feel i needed it (i have oily skin which it controlled very nicely).
So anyways to your question.......If you see Proactiv working well for you early on and you want to change Regimens i would say from my experience, stay on the thing thats working for you! If it's working for you then why change? If it's the price, buy off ebay. It's cheaper.
I have just this second bought a kit from the US (UK make SA only products now!) so i can see if it can clear me again. And if it does then it's a miracle! And i will preach to the world about Proactiv for sure!

I hope i've helped a bit!

it worked for about 2 months then it stopped. my girlfriend, who has more acne than i, was using it religiously, and it did the same for her. so she started using what i use (see sig) and when she had a minor breakout she went back and it made it worse. you couldn't pay me to go back to it. JMO though.....

I also have very mild acne. But before I first used Proactive my skin was sooo bad. Proactive made my skin so much nicer, it is true that it does stop after a while though, after a year for me. But once it stopped working I began using over the counter face cleansers and stuff and honestly I have never had acne as bad as before I began to use Proactive. Proactive calmed my acne by a lot, just make sure to moisturize since it does dry out your skin alot!

Good Luck!

I used Proactiv for 4 years. It actually worked really well for me. I think you'll be fine, especially since you have mild acne, but when you switch I would be careful what you switch to (maybe switch to a regimen where you use a 2.5% BP just like Proactiv has, rather than using salicylic acid, etc).

The important thing when making the switch is to not "shock" your skin. I think if you switch to a regimen that includes a gentle cleaner, 2.5% BP, and mositurizer (like DKR) you should be fine. That's what i did, and it worked for me.
