No I'm not talking about the fast before the blood test.

I'm going into my last month of tane, I've had great results and have no active acne whatsoever. It's great and I love it..

So I've been doing a little research on fasting (for physical, mental, spiritual benefits) and on one of the things I read it said your hormones may start to work faster and better because of the energy being diverted to other parts of the body rather than the digestive system. Which made me worry....if I do a fast let's say a couple months post-tane just to try it out blah blah blah, would I possibly being setting myself back????

Pretty much I just need advice from people who have fasted before or who know a lot about it. I want to know if this hormone thing would affect me post-tane negatively.

Another thing is fasts rid your body of toxins (supposedly) so I'm not sure if that would have an effect on my skin either..but probably.

well, one problem is if you fast, the accutane will not be absorbed properly. it needs to be taken with a meal.

other than that i don't think it will affect your skin negatively.

while im only on day 2 of accutane, i am most definitely familiar with fasting being involved in the raw vegan lifestyle for 2 years now. fasting should not in any way affect you negatively post-tane..accutane works to permanently alter the functioning of the pores, and all fasting will do is detox your body. in fact, i think its a great idea to incorporate regularly fasts into your life post-accutane...anything to help your liver recover from the intensity of this drug. liver function has also been linked at times to acne, so i would think if you were to fast, and to help strengthen your liver after accutane, it would just help to prevent any possible future acne issues that could be brought about by a congested liver from the accutane therapy. so far as hormones, fasting balances your hormones..or at least, helps to make them more balanced than they are/were during states of normal eating. either way, incorporating fasting in your overall regimen against acne i think is always a great idea. i definitely intend to focus on fasting after my accutane course. not to mention the positive mental/emotional effects that can be achieved through it! hope that helps a bit smile.gif

oh, yea. i feel you. i just went back on yasmin and im like "doh!" about the non-vegan factor. but i figure so long as my diet is what it is, i should be able to handle it for the next few months during accutane. just gotta do what you can with what you have, no? good luck! biggrin.gif
