I just wanted to share my recent experience with Cilest bcp. A bit about me – 28yo, female, had acne since I was 10 (yes, 10!!!). The only thing that has ever worked for me is Dianette bcp. Acne is hormonal and I have PCOS. Tried everything else under the sun including antibiotics, acupuncture, homeopathy, exclusion diets etc. BUT not RoAccutane yet. I have finally given in and am seeing my derm in a few weeks to get RoAccutane because I am so sick of this, and was put on Cilest bcp in preparation for RoAcc.

Basically, Cilest has ruined my skin. Yes I was breaking out badly before, but it was confined to the lower part of my face, chin and jawline etc. Now, after a month of Cilest, I look like something out of a horror film with acne on my forehead and upper cheeks, and I have honestly never had cystic acne this bad or this painful before. Also, Cilest made me hyper-emotional, depressed and I bled for two weeks of the three-week pack.

Suffice to say I am not continuing with it, but am returning to my old friend (!) Dianette and then the hard stuff - RoAccutane. I know some people have found Cilest to clear up their skin, but I wanted to share my experience for anyone who’s interested.

Thanks smile.gif

I am concerned that if I do go ahead with the RoAccutane it will all come back when I finish the course as my acne is hormonal... Everyone's different and I know that RoAccutane works long-term for some people with hormonal cystic and not for others so I guess I'll just have to give it a go...

Hiya i just wanted to say that i was on roaccutane about 2,3 years ago i am now 18 and it is brilliant it really helps your skin although your acne gets worse before it gets better but its worth the results. you also have to take dianette while your taking roaccutane and you can continue with dianette on afterwards but it really is worth taking it hope this helps. biggrin.gif
