Just got back from doctors.

He asked me if I ever felt suicidal but I just said "no".

Also he asked me if I ever took drugs and I said no to that too, but he said "No? Never at all?" as if he didn't believe me. Oh well.

Then he got me to fill out some questionnaire thing.

Anyway he prescribed me Fluoxetine (Prozac) at 20mg a day and wants me to go back in 2 weeks to see how I feel.

I used to be on Prozac - but I was on 80mg a day - and I was only about 120llb at the time. Young, too. I think it's crap that he wants to see you in two weeks - Prozac takes 4-6 weeks to even get into your system...and you're only taking 20mg?!?!?!?! I told you - you should have asked for Zoloft...you would have felt an improvement in a week's time.

I'm worried about you even more now, provided this new information about the prozac.

Hmm, the booklet that came with the pills said that a normal dose is 1 pill (20mg) a day for depression, but it is higher for OCD and stuff.

Why are you worried about me even more now?

I'm worried about you because it seems to me that you need something that is going to work quicker.

Right off an informational prozac website:

"The usual daily dose for depression ranges from 20 to 60 mg"

"Some people have noted that it may take as much as four weeks before you feel any significant relief from your depression."

Although a normal STARTING dose is the 20mg per day in the morning, it's not really a high dosage at all...so you're going to wait 4-6 weeks to see any improvement, but if any, it will only be slight because of the low starting dose.

Oh, maybe he will up my dose after the 2 weeks or something?

I've felt like this for a while, I should be ok to wait another 4-6 weeks.

I took the first pill about 45 minutes ago or something. It's made me feel kind of weird, I dunno how to describe the feeling but it isn't nice.

I think its honestly just placebo... 45 min is too short for the pill to be properly processed and it takes more than a few days for the concentration of drug to build up... hang in there! Prozac is low on the side effect profile anyhow.
