I thought I would give my log a new name, since I've been recording my progress for 7 weeks and I am no longer new to the forum.

Week seven: I was Really bad this weekend and did not do anything to my skin but wash it with water. I didn't apply the tazorac nor did I clean my face properly. I hope I don't get another IB. The first one was really hard to cover up with makeup.

So far my skin is still breaking out in the usually spots, but it goes away faster than before. I have a derm appointment on Wednesday, so I'm curious to see what she says. I'll post pics when I get batteries for my cam.

So I went to the derm today and she told me that I have no active acne, but the spot are really hard to get rid off. I also told her that I had stopped taking the clindamycin because it dries out my skin too much. She prescribed the clindamycin in a lotion form. I hope this isn't as bad as the roll on, which I find as too much alcohol. I complained about the pimples on my back and she suggested that I used tazorac on my back. Has anyone done this? If you have, how do you reach the hard spots and did it work? Any feedback work be great.

Wow thats why my derm prescribed for me today cleocin(clindamycin lotion) and Tazorac for my back.

When I used medication on my back it was easy to apply.

Week Eight: I have this really stubborn pimple on my forehead. Can you get a delayed IB on different parts of your face? I really want this pimple to go down, so I've been icing it and putting benzyl peroxide. hopefully this does the trick. Also, today I have another doctor's appointment. I'm going to ask her to put me on the pill. Although I'm going to start taking the pill for non-acne related issues, it will be interesting to see the effect that it will have on my face.

Week nine: My skin looks AWFUL. I'm hoping its stress or hormonal related since both of these problems will be solved in the following two weeks. Only five finals to study for and today I started my period (finally) so I can also get on birth control.

Sorry to hear that you are still breaking out at week 9. Differin does work for some people, but not everyone. It is possibly that your skin will start clearing after a few more weeks on Differin, but it also may not get better. I used Differin and Clindamycin and my skin just got progressively worse. My skin got better when I stopped using it (about 2 1/2 months after starting it).

You might try icing your skin to bring down inflamation a bit. Twice a day, put ice in a baggie and hold for a few minutes on any active pimples. I don't want to advise adding any more products, since you are using a couple prescriptions already. Also, taking Aleve for a few days might help the inflamation as well.

Oh man...I've been so busy with school and work that I haven't had a chance to update. My face is clearing up nicely expect for the spots where I have been bad and have picked at. I really need to stop picking because the pimple on its own will go away with time, but the scab left from picking takes forever to heal. My boyfriend has the best skin, I am so envious...

Its been a while but I have to say that this board has helped me clear up a lot of my problems. For starters, I now have some what clear back, with the odd pimple here and there. That's a 180 compared to how it used to be. Also, my face has cleared up well. I do have spot from where I picked, but those are fading. The Taz helps with some shallow scars that I have. So, until my scars disappear, I will continue to use Taz.

I now have 100% clear skin?!

regular use of taz has been the only thing that has worked on my skin.

I'm glad I found something that worked (finanly) and would recomend this for anyone with modrate acne.

good luck everyone

how long did the flaking / peeling go on for you? I'm on my third week now, and my cheeks are peeling like it's nobody's business. My face is clear, except for the scars, and the only problem is the peeling, no amount of moisturizer can fix it. Any answer would be appreciated. Thanks

keep using it for at least a month. I found that after the month, I stopped peeling, but my skin was still dry. Its not recommended to use lotion after you apply taz, so i put on lotion (cetaphill) in the morning.

Your skin looks amazing! Did you not get any red marks? If you did, how'd you get rid of them so quickly?

Congratulations on beautiful skin. sideways.gif

Damn your skin cleared up nicely....I just started Taz 2 days ago sad.gif I feel like an idiot thinking i could get rid of my acne with over the counter products and not going to me dermatologist anymore. My acne just kept on getting worse and worse so I finally went to a new dermatologist two days ago. Guess i got a long ways to go before my skin completely clears up huh? Looks like it took you around 8-9 months? After how many months did you notice your skin really starting to become clear?( maybe just a few red marks or pimples here and there)

Oh well Im hoping i dont get a big IB because i was on Differin prescribed by my regular docter 8 weeks prior to starting taz. Differin is a retenoid like Taz so im hoping Taz will just continue the process that Differin started but work better because i have heard alot of good stuff about Taz over Differin. I did get a real big IB from Differin but thats pretty much done with except for my damn forehead where i NEVER got acne before wtf?? Hopefully the Taz will clear that up.

Taz didn't cause me to get new red marks. What it did was help to get rid of the old red marks faster. The reason that I had red marks to begin with was that I insisted on picking my skin. In general, you should not pick your skin, this is especailly true when on taz. Your skin becomes too thin to mess with, so please, hands off. I would give it about a month to see a change and 3 for completely new skin.

Thank you for the compliment

please stick with it. Did your derm tell you to use both differn and taz at the same time? That could be a little harsh on the skin. I would recomend only using taz, but please don't become inpatient, it takes some time to work. I did get a really bad IB, but for some reason, some parts of my face looked worst then other. For completely clear skin, I would say I waited about three months.

Nah im just using Taz once a day at night for now, also taking 500mg Tetracyclines twice a day. Maybe after a few weeks ill start using Taz twice a day. So far i have been using it for 5 days and my skin got really flaky on the 4th mourning but all the dead skin just washed off and it wasent bad at all. The next mourning it wasent as dry even after using Taz the night before. No IB so far, infact my skin is starting to clear up. I hope this continues and ill be clear alot sooner than i thought.

my derm recomended that I only use it at night. Twice a day doesn't sound right to me. Anyone else on taz have some feedback?

Im using Taz only at night but my docter did tell me to up it to twice a day after 2 months i think.
So you only used it at night throughout the whole treatment? Im guessing my acne is more severe so he wants me to up the dosage when my skin gets more used to the taz. If the redness and dryness ever starts to go away i will listen to my docter.
